About
Oak Marsh Golf Course is one of the truly classic Pete Dye-designed golf courses in the world. The course was built in 1972 shortly after the completion of the Harbour Town Golf Links at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. The recent renovation led by Beau Welling was completed in 2025 and was thoughtfully planned to protect the architectural feel of Pete Dye’s original creation.
At par 72, this 6,471-yard course is noted for its tight fairways and small greens, meandering along serpentine salt marsh creeks and through the moss draped heritage oaks for which Amelia Island is famous. With five tee options, the modernized layout was designed to meet the requirements of today’s game brought on by technological advancements in equipment, providing a high-quality and consistent playing experience.

Disappointing conditions.
I’ve payed Oak Marsh every year for the past five. In the past, it was in top notch shape. Today I found the greens to be very disappointing..
They were bumpy, shaggy, and inconsistent . This has not been the case in the past. It’s too bad because it is a great layout with some challenging holes.

Great course but somehow can’t afford enough employees?
3 pm tee time on a perfect weather Sunday, first day after end of daylight saving, and the bar/restaurant was completely closed with no cart girl out either. So we aren’t allowed to bring our own beverages but they also aren’t open for service and provided no advance notice. Definitely would’ve played Amelia River if I had known.
Also the golf cart gps/map system told us at least 12 of the holes were golf path only despite the fact there was no recent heavy rain and the course was in great condition. I’ve played here maybe 20 times and that’s never happened. I understand if conditions make that necessary but there were no condition issues on any of the holes.

Ok on GolfNow special !!
Late March, grass has not grown in yet. Fairways inconsistent with some overseed some bermuda and some bare - greens not rolling true ball drifts on different grasses but pretty and Green with colored fertilizer. It is an interesting course and good value on the Hotdeal special but I wouldn’t pay full price right now.

Amazing course and staff
The course is a must. It will be challenging. Make sure you do hole 16 from the gold tees. Dennis, Charlie, Jonathan are all amazingly helpful and friendly. Even when it’s full the pace is decent.

Conditions could be better
The course wasn't crowded at all. fairways and tees need a lot of work. They closed the restaurant

Amazing course and good value
A must!! I didn’t like Amelia River Golf Club or SC Hamptons nearly as much. This is the best course in the area.

Great design
The Course was classic a Pete Dye Course woven into the marsh. The course was challenging especially if you were above the hole. There was water, sand and marsh on most holes but the course was fair . The Tee boxes were in poor condition but most of the course was good. Overall the course provides a good challenge as it moves through beautiful views and terrain. I will definitely be coming back.

Great Staff, but course needs work
ImTo be honest, the course was in average condition overall (and in some places, worse), but it was consistent. The greens were slow (running maybe 8.5 - shaggy and bumpy). They were receptive, but not firm at all. I had to be careful repairing my ball marks because there was barely any root base. Even though we have not had much rain, there was no bounce to the fairways. A couple of tee boxes were pretty thin on grass too. As for the location, once you get to the marsh holes 9, and 16-17-18), it’s worth it. Most of the rest of the course is basic Florida, but the ones along the marsh are beautiful. The finishing 3 are tough (especially into the wind today), and are a good challenge to post a good score. Was it worth the $68 that I paid (first time I played it)? Probably. Would I pay that again for the same conditions, no. The staff gets high marks for friendliness and helpfulness. Very nice people.
