About
Oak Marsh Golf Course is one of the truly classic Pete Dye-designed golf courses in the world. The course was built in 1972 shortly after the completion of the Harbour Town Golf Links at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. The recent renovation led by Beau Welling was completed in 2025 and was thoughtfully planned to protect the architectural feel of Pete Dye’s original creation.
At par 72, this 6,471-yard course is noted for its tight fairways and small greens, meandering along serpentine salt marsh creeks and through the moss draped heritage oaks for which Amelia Island is famous. With five tee options, the modernized layout was designed to meet the requirements of today’s game brought on by technological advancements in equipment, providing a high-quality and consistent playing experience.

All were very courteous and helpful. Good with course information and made us feel very welcome. Club rentals easy and were almost new Callaway clubs. Girls in concession cart very nice also. Wr would go again.
Very nice with beautiful views
We arrived and were greeted by super friendly staff. Nice warmup areas. The course was challenging and the greens were in amazing shape. Pace of place was great. The only two negatives I had were the driving range has no grass to hit off of as did some of the tee boxes and $14 for a hotdog, chips and a power aide. All in all it was a great day of golf.

Great views
Beautiful golf course, nestled amongst some great marsh views.
Cons
Almost every hole is cart path only
Greens are not in good shape
Restaurant doesn’t make food, the bring it from another place and it’s hours old
Drinks are not good

Beautiful views
Loved the course layout even the easy holes made me think about how to play it. Greens were perfect. They were fast and smooth! Keep the ball below the hole. Fairways were excellent! The last three holes coming home are so picturesque and could be featured in any magazine. I can’t wait to play this course again!

Beautiful course
Great layout, greens in good shape but a bit slow for my liking. Fairways were okay for January. Sand traps were excellent. Par threes on the back nine were very difficult with the 48 MPH gusts that we encountered the day we played. Would like to come back for another round on a less windy day

Enjoyable experience
Fun resort course. Staff were friendly and pace of play was great. While my wife and I teed off behind a foursome we were finished in 3 hours and fifteen minutes. Greens and bunkers in fine condition and fairways were generally good. If I had a complaint it’s trying to figure out why so many holes were cart path only. Some that weren’t were wet while some cart path only holes seemed quite dry and firm. That said besides it being very chilly it was a fun day and would return

Pace of Play
The pace of play was horrible.
Regardless of the holidays, foursomes showing disregard for other golfers on the course should be addressed by having adequate staff to monitor the course.
People hitting multiple shots, searching for golf balls and lingering on the fairways and greens is inexcusable.
As a two-some, we had 2 foursomes playing painfully slow and therefore we played the front 9 holes in 2 1/2 hours on a Tuesday.
The green fees were steep enough to expect better course supervision and enforced pace of play..

Short par 4s, tricky greens, great layout!
Loved it so much I played it 2 days in a row. Staff is great as is pace of play. There are at least 5 short par 4s where you really just need to place it 160-200 out and hit a wedge in. You will double at least 1 hole under 300 yards as they all have their own challenges. Only downside for the course, please don't paint the greens. It's winter and people understand the grass is a bit brown, you don't need to make it so we get green/blue paint on our balls
