Deer Island Country Club

Found Deer Island a fee years back on a golf trip with friends, looking for something different from the local Orlando courses. Its a great track with lots of water and challenging approach shots.

The course is in excellent condition. The par 3 over the water with the new stone wall is a gem. The greens roll well and in excellent shape. The only improvement would be to have ball washers.

Excellent. Just excellent! All of it.

Conditions were great. I got a deal online but the regular rates are fair. The layout is incredible. Lots of water, many bunkers, but plenty of room to avoid both. Looked forward to every hole… lots of fun.

Pro shop and starter were very friendly and helpful. Cart girl was available and very nice.

Pace was okay. Given the quality and value of this course their tee sheet should be full… they deserve to be. Given the amount of water/sand on the course, no one is playing a quick round there. Enjoy the bald eagles and the gators… quit looking at your watch and appreciate the day.

Range is nice, but get early as it is a bit of a drive away in a golf cart. Fantastic egg/bacon/cheese sandwich at the turn.

If/when I’m back in the area this will be the first place I look to play again.

Greens and fairways excellent condition. All staff extremely polite and professional. Wildlife sightings a plus. Would recommend this course all day long.

The course was in great condition and you could tell that they were trying to upgrade the course and clubhouse. Furthermore, the staff from the inside to the starter were excellent. Great overall experience!

Discovered Deer Island a few years ago and return a few times every year.

With numerous water hazards and traps; it is a real challenge.

Not in great condition because of the recent cold spell and drought.

Still worth the experience every time.

Other courses in the area are slipping. But Deer Island is in good shape. The frost and drought has hurt the course but it is still very good

Started 15 minutes late for a 9:30 tee time but otherwise good

Course was in excellent shape, played it under 4 hours, people there are very friendly, highly recommended playing it. It is worth the drive.

I highly recommend this course. Every hole has some kinda of water on it. Lost a few balls but really enjoyed the course. Greens & fairways were green in good condition. I will pay it a again before going backup north.

We’ve played this course on previous trips to GL. It’s a good layout. The greens were not in satisfactory condition. Two of them were terrible and most others were not smooth due to a foreign patchy grass growing higher than the underlying Bermuda. We were disappointed.

My brother and I come down for the Daytona 500 annually and have played Deer Island multiple times over the years. The greens have definitely regressed overall. We were hoping for much better.

The course was in great condition considering the time of year. Great welcome from the starter. A tough test if your game is off as wster comes into play on most holes.

We played the first 6 holes in double quick time then came up behind 2 groups of 4 who appeared to be playing texas scramble. Marshall must have had a word as the last 3 holes played quickly but still a 4 and a half hour round. Great value.

Great course, excellent value for money with stunning views. Lots of water so can be challenging for an average golfer. Staff were very friendly. Some were of the greens were a little rough after a patch of bad weather.
