Fourth time here and continues to improve and impress
No negative comments. This is a beautiful course, very well maintained with a great variety of holes. People are all friendly especially the girl who books you in etc. unfortunately I can’t remember her name, we met her there last year and she was fantastic and even remembered us this year. The price is very competitive and much better than most around. Probably because it’s a bit of a drive from the Orlando are but well worth a visit. It won’t disappoint
Great Track!
Everything was great at Deer Island. Staff were super friendly and inviting. The course was in great shape, fairways and tees are great and greens were rolling nicely. I would definitely recommend!
My only advice would be to ask the beverage cart to ride through all holes, not just sit on 7 all day. That way golfers can have multiple opportunities to purchase beverages instead of just once. She was super friendly and nice though!
Best Course Played
I played four golf clubs in the Orlando area and deer Island was by far my favorite. Course has got a great layout, tea boxes were fabulous, fairways were fantastic, and the greens were very true putting. They were not super fast but very true putting. A little bit out of the way from Orlando, but what a great place to play. I highly recommend this course.
As good as ever
Said it several times. This is a course that's in really good condition. Enjoy playing here but its a bit tough for me!
Deer Island is Fun Golf Experience
I played here maybe 20+yrs ago, and didn't remember much, but sooo much has changed. There's still water hazards on about every hole, but now Houses (not that they come into play & have good buffer zone off course). Between the lakefront homes, wildlife, and well manicured course, the views are spectacular. I got paired up with another single (starter Otis was sweet personality), in a buffer spot a couple holes behind a group & nobody pushing us either. Hey folks, this course has green grass putting surfaces (some very undulating), well-kept sand, and fairways (actual difference between rough & fwys). We are both old fellas, so played a mix of tees = around 6,000yrds, but the layout has short holes, a couple of big Par5s, most all of which guarded by water/ponds; but my point is you use every club in the bag We both had a couple of lucky Birdies, but also lightened the load of balls in bag too. There's a couple of holes where water jukes out into landing spots, and of course, the more you play this course, the more you can learn where not to go. Most greens are plateaued up, or with said water guarding against frontal bunny-hop approaches ......at any rate hit extra club to carry/land on greens. There's not your typical ProShop, just check-in at the bar's counter (gals can serve ya swing lube & greens fee all at once). Oh, another thing, Thanx God for GPS cuz Deer Island is tucked away on a peninsula between Lake Dora & Lake Beauclair .....but it is worth the trip. I can't wait to get back & play this course again, maybe redeem a couple of DbleBogies & waterballs ......and Thanx to GN for the Hot Deals at these various courses.
Great course
Love the course. We make a point of playing it every year when we come down.
Well worth the trip from Kissimmee.
Everyting was perfect
We had a great round and didn't lose a single ball.
Unfortunately, there isn't much grass on the fairways at the moment, so the ball often lies directly on the ground.
The greens also caused us some problems and we had a lot of 3 putts...(our fault 😉)
We'd love to come back.
Unfortunately rain
The golf course is in very good condition. Everything is great, as always.
Unfortunately, it started raining after 9 holes and we had to stop.
But we'll be happy to come back.
Great Experience
The golf course was in great condition and the scenery is second to none. The layout and natural habitat provided a memorable experience for my wife and I! I’ve never seen so many gators on a course! In addition, the staff was super friendly and helpful. My new favorite course!
Another hidden gem
Found Deer Island a fee years back on a golf trip with friends, looking for something different from the local Orlando courses. Its a great track with lots of water and challenging approach shots.
Very good course
The course is in excellent condition. The par 3 over the water with the new stone wall is a gem. The greens roll well and in excellent shape. The only improvement would be to have ball washers.
Excellent. Just excellent! All of it.
Conditions were great. I got a deal online but the regular rates are fair. The layout is incredible. Lots of water, many bunkers, but plenty of room to avoid both. Looked forward to every hole… lots of fun.
Pro shop and starter were very friendly and helpful. Cart girl was available and very nice.
Pace was okay. Given the quality and value of this course their tee sheet should be full… they deserve to be. Given the amount of water/sand on the course, no one is playing a quick round there. Enjoy the bald eagles and the gators… quit looking at your watch and appreciate the day.
Range is nice, but get early as it is a bit of a drive away in a golf cart. Fantastic egg/bacon/cheese sandwich at the turn.
If/when I’m back in the area this will be the first place I look to play again.
Amazing!
Greens and fairways excellent condition. All staff extremely polite and professional. Wildlife sightings a plus. Would recommend this course all day long.
