Rating 73.8

The highly popular El Campeon Course at Mission Inn Resort consistently ranks in the top 10 of Florida's many golf courses. The course originally opened in 1917 and decades later in 1992, it was joined by a second 18-hole course, Las Colinas. El Campeon is not only one of the state's oldest golf courses but also one of its most challenging. The traditional design remains largely unchanged except for a renovation in 1926. The course winds through towering forests and numerous spring-fed lakes. The layout features water on thirteen holes as well as dramatic elevation changes that measure over 85 feet across the rolling fairways and undulating greens. The signature hole of the golf course is the par-5 17th. This lengthy double dogleg possesses more hazards than some entire courses do.

Beautiful old course

Great layout but a bit crowded. The holes were unique and fun. Could use a little work around the edges but a great value for the money and area.

Old School Throwback

10 of us take two Nic we golf trips each year. We have traveled all over the US and to Ireland. This year our first trip was to Orlando,. We played 4 courses, 2 in a very nice resort in Orlando and one on a beautiful private course. An El Campeon. Our group Consensus was that El Campeon was the biggest surprise of our trip. It had such a wonderful value and the vibe was very old school in a very positive sense. Conditions were great and the course was difficult enough without being unplayable for our group that ranges in handicaps from 4 to 21. I would recommend it to any level of golfer. We plan to come back and stay at the inn and play both courses.

Had an emergency COVID cancellation

I pre paid for three tee times. One of my golfers was diagnosed with COVID the day before our round and obviously had to cancel his tee time.

So I paid for three tee times and only utilized two tee times without a refund or credit for the third unused tee time.

Very disappointed with no refund policy

Fabulous day at El Campeon

We had a blast playing today. Loved the layout. Course conditions were great. Staff was friendly. Pace of play was a little slow. Most of which I think wad due to the difficult nature of the course. Did not let it ruin a great day. Will definitely play again.

El Campeon in Great Shape but Slow Play a Detriment

El Campeon was in excellent shape overall. Only the 18 th green had peripheral damage. Nice green fairways and fast but true greens. The only Problem was a slow pace of play and the lack of course ranges to speed the slackers/hackers along. It took almost 5 hours for 18 holes and waiting every shot grates on you by the end of the round. Great senior rates. Perhaps allow more time between tee times to improve the pace of play. Check out the great bartenders and Happy Hour BOGO (even with top Shelf brands) as you’ll need a drink after such a slow round

Awesome historic course.

Fun layout. You will use every club in your bag. Greens very fast, just had Canadian Q tournament. Amazing elevation change for a non mountain course.

Tough course but worth it

Always love playing El Campeon. We have a love-hate relationship love the course and layout hate the way I play it. Greens were fast and amazing but pace of play was slow. Probably due to the windy conditions and tough course. Overall a must play if you are in town
