Rating 73.8

The highly popular El Campeon Course at Mission Inn Resort consistently ranks in the top 10 of Florida's many golf courses. The course originally opened in 1917 and decades later in 1992, it was joined by a second 18-hole course, Las Colinas. El Campeon is not only one of the state's oldest golf courses but also one of its most challenging. The traditional design remains largely unchanged except for a renovation in 1926. The course winds through towering forests and numerous spring-fed lakes. The layout features water on thirteen holes as well as dramatic elevation changes that measure over 85 feet across the rolling fairways and undulating greens. The signature hole of the golf course is the par-5 17th. This lengthy double dogleg possesses more hazards than some entire courses do.

Great course.

As always. A must play if your in the area. Lots of character and wildlife. Old Florida but with dramatic, non-typical for Florida, elevations.

Could not have been happier!!

4 guys on a golf trip played both Mission Inn courses. Both courses were excellent. We played El Campeon in the afternoon and it was fabulous. Much different course than Los Calinas with regards to elevation changes and course layout. Both courses were in wonderful condition.

Staff was friendly and very helpful. They knew we were playing both courses that day and gave us the replay rate for both courses, without us saying a word about anything.

Had a great lunch between rounds at the bar as well. Mission Inn was great and I would recommend it to anyone!!!

Rain Policy

Problem getting rain check, it rain on our 3rd hole told they don’t give out rain checks. I work at a golf company which owns 21 courses. We always give out rain or injury passes to come back and play good for ever. I have received one that was given out 4 years ago. Pace of play was 5 hour round, waiting on every shot, course was not busy 1:32 tee time. Need better Rain policy.

Solid Course with a Great Layout

Solid course with a great layout and excellent conditions. ***GOLF PASS PERKS NOT HONORED*** part of the reason we played this course was for the $100 travel credit. I called Golf Now customer service and was told it was handled through the course. No one at the course had any idea of a travel credit and said it must have been handled by Golf Now(I even spoke to management). Will not ding the course’s rating but do expect Golf Now to follow through with what they advertise.

Beautiful and challenging

Course was very well maintained and there are plenty of challenges along the way with the 85 foot elevation changes. If you like beautiful vistas of the course you will love El Campeon. There are many elevation rises along the way and views looking back toward the Mission Inn, which is a lovely full-service hotel. Swimming Pool and hot tub, outdoor pool table and bar make this a great place to relax after your round. Golf clubhouse itself is nice, but not extraordinary. We would have loved a place to sit outside with a drink after our round. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Outstanding

Great course , great challenge, wonderful day at golf. Draw back foursome ahead to slow for not reason, playing extra balls and chasing all over, but the course is outstanding as always a great day, by the way birdy 17.

Fantastic.

I review this course every time I play, and I rave every time. Every. Single. Time.

Such a unique course for Florida -- hilly, and with big, old trees that spread into the fairway and block vision on several shots. The front 9 from the blues plays longer than the 6600 yards. Mistakes are punished. Greens are firm and fast and sloping.

There are only two negatives. One, the sand was a little inconsistent bunker to bunker. There were a couple of green side traps with greens close together (2, 11) that had less sand. And the second is that it's in the Orlando metro, but it's a good ride from downtown, and there isn't much else around.

That said, it's worth the drive and the effort to get there. You won't be sorry.

El Campeon

In addition to the course being incredibly maintained, the employees really go out of their way to ensure an overall positive experience. From the moment that you park your car, an employee is there with your golf cart. He happily removes your clubs from your trunk and places them on the cart. When you enter the pro shop, Nicole greets you with a smile and wishes you a fun round. The starter is efficient, helping you get to the first tee efficiently. The course has a great layout with multiple elevation changes which is somewhat rare in Florida. Although challenging, this is a fun golf course with some very scenic holes. When COVID concerns are behind us, I look forward to visiting the restaurant and other amenities that this great resort has to offer.

Consistently Top Notch

Course is in very good shape. Greens had been sanded. Some were sanded heavier than others so that made for an added challenge from hole to hole. Grounds crew is very nice and considerate. You can tell they take pride in presenting a well maintained course. They layout is excellent and challenging. It's a nice change from the normal flat Florida courses. Highly recommend and I wI'll continue to return when time allows.

They should let people know that the greens been sanded. The worst greens and fairways i have seen could be better for $50.
