About

Type Resort

Length 7015 yards

Rating 73.8

The highly popular El Campeon Course at Mission Inn Resort consistently ranks in the top 10 of Florida's many golf courses. The course originally opened in 1917 and decades later in 1992, it was joined by a second 18-hole course, Las Colinas. El Campeon is not only one of the state's oldest golf courses but also one of its most challenging. The traditional design remains largely unchanged except for a renovation in 1926. The course winds through towering forests and numerous spring-fed lakes. The layout features water on thirteen holes as well as dramatic elevation changes that measure over 85 feet across the rolling fairways and undulating greens. The signature hole of the golf course is the par-5 17th. This lengthy double dogleg possesses more hazards than some entire courses do.

Went there for my Birthday outing with three friends. I had the time of my life, thank you very much. The course was challenging but fun and we had dinner afterwards having a wonderful experience.

Easy course, wanted more out of it.

The course was just OK in my opinion. I was hoping for better fairways, better greens, but it played fine. I don’t know if I’m being picky or what, but, I just wanted a little bit more challenge. And just a note, I am a 6 handicap.

Excellent layout- old style Florida golf- classic design except for #17. Pace of play was pitiful , especially on back nine. As usual, no ranger around to improve pace. Greens were OK condition wise but turf in fairways was below average , even with the overseed.

Great golf at Mission Inn

Course was in great shape for a cold January morning

Greens have been shaved down and they are a lot faster than past reviews would have you believe. Fairways were over seeded and just a little thin in some spots. Overall, it was five star experience! Staff is friendly and helpful. Always worth the drive from Orlando.

Excellent in ALL areas

Play this course often and have never been disappointed. Recent extreme weather has left the grass a little thin but you can't control mother nature

So so

This course is rated higher than the other courses I have played however the greens were very slow (probably 7). The course layout is interesting with the use of elevation and placement of bunkers. However, it is pretty much back and forth. If the greens were rolled better, it would have made the round more enjoyable. A bit disappointed with the green fee price vs the condition of the greens. Paid half yesterday with much better greens and more interesting layout, just no elevation... kissimmee bay.

Disappointing

Previous reviews lead one to believe that the course is in great shape, pace is ok and it’s an enjoyable.

I’ll say this, I didn’t play bad but the greens are slower than you can imagine. Stimping at about a 4 or 5.

If you want save 20 bucks go play Harbor Hills or somewhere else and get the same thing. The super here I’m sure will kick it up for the symetra tour next year but for everyday play this was the equivalent to a county/muni course. Pace of play of was 5 hours teeing off at 11:30 (net noon because they were behind)

Carts were great though

Folks COVID is still out there!

COVID is real and getting worse! A few things that were too lax ... cart girl not wearing a mask when serving parties ... after our round we wanted to sit outside and have lunch! The restaurant was pretty full inside and we asked if we could sit outside...No was her reply... it should be encouraged ! I still love the coarse and always will but they could do a better job of not contributing to the spread of COVID ... wearing a mask until you sit door indoors then removing doesn’t do diddly squat...your are ust one sneeze and or cough away from getting this virus!

Great Value!

This course was mentioned on a few "lists" when doing research prior to our trip to Orlando, and it didn't disappoint. I wasn't expecting the elevation changes! Nice layout and well maintained. The greens were a little slow when I played, but I'm sure they get much faster at different times of the year, particularly when they are hosting a Q School. Plenty of water and sand, but also pretty wide and open. Enjoyable for high handicappers and challenging from back tees for the low ones. I booked through golf now and got it for around 60...well worth it, would def recommend!

Wow

Beautiful course, very narrow and incredibly difficult greens to read. This is a great course to help you realize how good of a golfer you thought you were. Will definitely return to challenge the beast again...oh yeah need to bring plenty of golf balls.

Well worth the drive

Best conditions and layout for the price anywhere in the Orlando area. The quintessential Florida layout, but with hills. Immaculate greens that were quick and smooth. If you haven’t played here, you should.
