Mission Inn Resort & Club - El Campeon Course
About
The highly popular El Campeon Course at Mission Inn Resort consistently ranks in the top 10 of Florida's many golf courses. The course originally opened in 1917 and decades later in 1992, it was joined by a second 18-hole course, Las Colinas. El Campeon is not only one of the state's oldest golf courses but also one of its most challenging. The traditional design remains largely unchanged except for a renovation in 1926. The course winds through towering forests and numerous spring-fed lakes. The layout features water on thirteen holes as well as dramatic elevation changes that measure over 85 feet across the rolling fairways and undulating greens. The signature hole of the golf course is the par-5 17th. This lengthy double dogleg possesses more hazards than some entire courses do.

Golfer Reviews
One of the best courses in the Orlando Area
This was my second time playing El Campeon at Mission Inn and it did not disappoint. I was fantastic, just as it was the first time I played the course.
The staff is friendly and accommodating. They have nice practice facility areas which is always appreciated.
I really like the El Campeon course. One of the real challenges of the course are the greens. You have to leave your approach shot to the green In the right spot or you can easily three putt. Some of the greens are treacherous and challenging with slopes, undulations and subtle breaks. The course is very hilly with lots of elevation changes, especially for a Florida course. The greens were a little on the slow side today, but that is a good thing because it would have been very challenging to fast greens with the slopes and undulations.
The course conditions were very good. From the first hole through the 18th, each was a true challenge with plenty of risk/reward. The scenery is beautiful. The 17th hole which is one of the more challenging holes in golf. The 17th hole is the number one handicap hole on the course and it is called “Devils Delight” due to its challenge.
El Campeon is one of the nicest courses northwest of Orlando. If you are not close it is still well worth your drive to enjoy this course. From the picturesque views , nice fairways and challenging greens. You will not be disappointed! The course is tough and beautiful. You will definitely use every club in your bag.
Loved this Course, but oh my, those greens. You better leave your shot to the green In the right spot. They are treacherous
Great layout
Always enjoy this gem! Fairways a little thin and damp. Worth the drive from Orlando. Restaurant is over-priced with sandwiches $13-$16 with only chips.
Lots of character
Nice Course. Good Greens. Hilly for a Florida Course. Will play again.
super day on the course
usually play Mission Inn several times a year. As usual, El Campeon did not disappoint. Conditions were great, weather was perfect and staff very friendly.
Truly outstanding golf experience.
From the first hole through the 18th, each was a challenge with plenty of risk/reward. I’d go back and play just to experience the 17th hole which I believe is one of the most amazing holes in golf!
Second visit
Great layout with several elevation changes. Greens are quick and tricky.
Knickers restaurant is excellent, only complaint is its operating hours (kitchen closes at 4:00pm)
Beautiful day, great course
The course was in great shape and the greens were true and fast. The fairways were very good, looks like it had some overseed with rye and was.very lush for this time of year. The greens were in great shape and rolled true. it was an especially memorable round for me as I got my first hole in one on the 15th.if I could have picked any course in the world for it to happen, it would have been the 15th at El campeon.
A True Hidden Gem
Played Mission Inn multiple times and It's aways in great shape. It can get a little soggy on a few holes but nothing that hurts the experience. If you have the chance, take the trip out here to play, you won't regret it!
An Old Florida Classic
I enjoy this layout more and more every time I play it. The pace of play was great as we got around in under 4 hours. The greens were slightly slower than they looked, but other than that the course was in great shape! If you have never driven up to check out Mission Inn, I highly recommend it.
El Campeon - Mission Inn
This is one of the nicest courses northwest of Orlando. If you are not close it would be worth your drive to enjoy this track. From the picturesque views , perfect fairways and smooth as silk greens. You will not be disappointed! I will definitely play again ASAP.
Great gold course
One of my favorite golf courses in Central Florida. The course is both tough and beautiful. Today the greens were a little slow but that was due to the Rain. As usual the staff was extremely friendly and attentive. Especially Mo the beverage cart girl she made the round extremely enjoyable. The staff at the 19th Hole after the round was extremely friendly overall my group had a great time. I highly recommend this course and the experience
One of the best public courses in Orlando
This course definitely makes you work threw every club in your bag. All the tee shots are straightforward, but angles into greens are premium. Approach shots on the front(3-7) need good numbers due to the elevation changes. Greens are extremely healthy and consistent 1-18. Pro shop staff outstanding.
Fantastic Golf Course!
Played with a group of 12 on Dec 20th and what a spectacular day! It was a little cool and windy for Florida, but it didn't matter. The course was in absolutely pristine condition, and the greens were a challenge to say the least! Grain of the green came into play in a huge way on all holes, so make sure you are aware. Par 73 layout is a great one, and to know that you are playing a course that is over 100 years old is pretty special. If you are ever in Central Florida and want to play an awesome round of golf, this is the place!
Great layout
Well worth the hour plus drive a couple times a year. Tee boxes and fairways are very good. Traps need some work, greens had recently been sanded but it wasn’t bad. The greens are very firm and rolling well. Only real complaint was the “cart girls” (3 of them) that were basically just goofing off and couldn’t figure out how to get a couple of sandwiches on the cart and delivered. I don’t hold that against the course at all.
Mission Inn Review
Mission Inn offers 2 Fantastic courses that will test both the highly skilled players from the back
tees along with the intermediate skilled players from a choice of different tees.
El Campeon has a long history of being one of the very best Golf Courses in the State with unique elevation changes that contradict the “theory that All golf courses in Florida are flat’. The playing conditions have always maintained a high degree of excellence.
Las Colinas being the younger sister course is also considered as one the best courses to play in the state. Like El Campeon , Las Colinas is always in excellent condition with unique shaped greens that are very challenging.
The staff are always very Professional & Friendly. including a superb 19th hole for food & drink that makes for a must play at Mission Inn.
El Campeon Challeges your Skill
It was unusually cold the day I played. The course was in excellent condition. The course is challenging but fair. The course plays longer than the posted yardage since some of the holes are uphill. It is an enjoyable golf course. I will return.
