Dayton Valley Golf Club
About
Dayton Valley Golf Club is an Arnold Palmer Signature design that has been a PGA Tour Qualifier course since 1995, making it the longest standing site in the country. The course is surrounded by the Sierra Nevada Mountains and stretches across the valley below. The rolling, links-style layout features sculpted fairways and large, undulating greens. You may find yourself faced with a tough lie even after a good shot. It's a challenging test with plenty of water and strategically placed bunkers coming into play throughout. Careful shot placement is especially important on the water holes at Dayton Valley G.C. The most difficult hole on the golf course is the par-4 ninth. It's a lengthy dogleg left with water down along the entire left side of the fairway and short and right of the green. On your approach, hitting left of the green you'll find heavy rough or pot bunkers.

This course is nice
We really enjoyed this course with exception of two things. The pace of play is slow. Very slow. They do have Marshalls on the course but it did not seem to help. The other problem is the sand traps. As in very little sand and too much water in them. It was like hitting off concrete (unless the water was there).
Course was in excellent condition
Played 18 in 4 hours and really enjoyed the round. We were paired with another couple. We enjoyed it so much that we replayed another 18 for an excellent rate and played that round in 3 1/4 hours.
Great course! Diamond in the rough
Course is in really good shape! Greens were nice, fairways were open. Traps were questionable. All in all a great course for the price I paid. Will be back soon!
tough layout
can't see the fairway boundaries from the tees. very windy. too many unnecessary bunkers
A great value
The course was in very good shape. It had very uniform medium speed greens. The sand traps were not very good (mostly dirt). The cart paths could use some wook. I was put with 3 other players, who play there occasionally and I had a great time with all of them. The pro shop, cart and bAR staff were friendly and helpful.
dayton
Great course, True greens, somewhat friendly staf. First time we played this course club pro was great next time we played it same thing. The last two times the guy has been à little rude, looked l Ike he hated his job. The course i ta self is beautiful with excellent scenery. Challenging course, that will test your skills. I will play it again.
I love Dayton Valley
The course was in great shape and challenging as ever. The Par 3's are my favorite they play well to all skill levels but still challenge you to choose the right club. I would recommend this course to anyone who really likes golf. There is a lot of water so bring a few extra balls just in case your having an off round.
excellent condition
what a deal...twilight is by far the best deal ....maybe in the country...play the special days as there is one for nearly every day of week...Saturdays...$1 beer and Tacos...what's not to like? great course condition hit it on a perfect day Thunderstorms in the distance variable winds...I have played there in the prevailing wind...plays tough then, but it is designed for it...3 hr round..PERFECT!
good test of golf
The course was a bit soggy, especially the tee boxes which were spongy, but overall the course was a pleasure to play. Probably not for those that spray the ball otherwise interesting drive choises as well as approach shots. Well worth a try.
Great golf course, worth to try!
Very good course with cheap green fee, well maintenance. A lot of bunkers and water. But bunkers are pretty hard without sand, that is only thing I don't like.
Great Course
Was very surprised to find such a gem in the middle of no where! Great Course, great conditions, a very good challenge for the price.
Beautiful scenary and perfect course condition!
It was an awesome course that i have ever played. All the staff was all nice and friendly.
Great course horrible customer service
This was my first time playing this course. I live in Reno and average two-three rounds if golf a week. This day started off on a negative. The person working the counter in the tour shop was very unfriendly and what my friends described as rude. He answered our questions with "yeah" "yep" "nope" and with this stuck-up look on his face. I was really excited about this course. Its challenging and the conditions were great. However, everone in our group was so bothered by the tour shop's employee that we all agreed after the first hole that we wouldn't be back. I'd rather take my clubs to Wolf Run or Arrow Creek and be treated like my business matters.
Excellent Greens, Hidden Gem
I've played this course many times. I live in Lake Tahoe, but golf there is very expensive so i play in Carson Valley. Over the last few years Dayton has consistently had the best greens in the valley. Course is always in good shape and greens tend to be fast and hard. They were overwatering today when i was there, so they held well, but still ran very true. Not as much break as i'm used to as there tends to be lots of subtle breaks, especially when putt dies . Lot's of water, some of which you may not notice from the fairway or tee box. Very fair layout. Bunkers are more dirt than sand. Think this is due to the high winds you tend to get almost every afternoon.
If you are in South Lake Tahoe and want a lovely round of golf, i highly recommend this course due to condition and time to play. Check weather before you go as it can be quite windy. takes about 50min to get there from CA/NV border, but i think it's worth the drive, especially for the price.
Finally, they do host Q School every year in October. If you get a chance to play it right before they close for this, you will see how pro's play. Very hard/fast/short fairways, deep rough, super fast/hard greens. really plays different. adds a number of strokes to your score.
Beautiful greens
The course is in excellent condition with fast challenging greens. Excellent value for the money. Friendly staff.
Love the layout...a good challenge
Love Arnie's courses! Worth the drive from South Tahoe for this kind of course, friendliness, and value for the money! We'll be back.
ok
Ok I will play the golf course with my friends and family
This is the best in the Valley
Dayton Valley is the best place to get out early in a weekday. We were alone most of the day. Nothing better than getting up to your ball and hitting it at your pace, it sure makes it fun.
This course had grat holes
Fun course with many different and challenging holes. greens are in excellent condition. Will go back.
Beautiful 5* Course
Dayton is a long, beautiful and extremely well maintained course. The greens are highly maintained with a stemp rating of 11-11.5, very fast. Lots of water stocked with koi and fish and lots of bunkers. Very challenging. The staff was very friendly and the pulled pork sandwiches in the cafe were delicious. Carts have GPS and are new, very clean, plenty of power and have club and ball cleaners and an ice box.
Dayton is a 5* course.
