Dayton Valley Golf Club
About
Dayton Valley Golf Club is an Arnold Palmer Signature design that has been a PGA Tour Qualifier course since 1995, making it the longest standing site in the country. The course is surrounded by the Sierra Nevada Mountains and stretches across the valley below. The rolling, links-style layout features sculpted fairways and large, undulating greens. You may find yourself faced with a tough lie even after a good shot. It's a challenging test with plenty of water and strategically placed bunkers coming into play throughout. Careful shot placement is especially important on the water holes at Dayton Valley G.C. The most difficult hole on the golf course is the par-4 ninth. It's a lengthy dogleg left with water down along the entire left side of the fairway and short and right of the green. On your approach, hitting left of the green you'll find heavy rough or pot bunkers.

Beautiful club
I love Dayton Valley. Very reasonably priced and a gorgeous course. Lots of water in play makes for a difficult round but I have always enjoyed Dayton. My cart was dying on the front nine so I exchanged it for a new one on the back nine and it died on 14. Noone would answer the club house phone so we walked the last 4 holes which I enjoy anyhow.
Always an excellant lie
The greens were very true and fast. When I was in the fairway my lie was very good but tight. The bunkers do need attention; they were very thin and hard.
Lots of water
One of my favorite courses in the area, if it were in Reno in would be twice the price. They sanded the greens a couple of weeks ago, there is still some sand and it slowed down your putts, by the time this review comes out they will be good. The staff is always friendly the grounds are always well kept, the best value of any course in the area and well worth the drive.
This course is challenging and worth the green fees.
Great time and challenging course. Lots of water and sand. Carts are terrible! Too much wind in afternoon.
Good value
Dayton is an excellent course and excellent value. We had to play the back nine twice as the front greens were being plugged. Still enjoyed and pace of play was good.
water makes this place fun
love the gps on the golf cart greens were nice. and plenty of water and sand traps to work around.
Nice course
The course was in great shape for this time of year. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Bring your a game
Great layout but the course is very tough, especially if you are not hitting fairly straight off the tee. A lot of water directly in play, and the fairways are a lot like a links course; as you are just as likely to get a tough lie as a good lie after a good shot.
Love the greens, fairly smooth and lightning fast. Sand in traps closer to dirt, but I understand that wind conditions in the summer (afternoons) would play havoc on lighter sand.
All in all this course is a must play - but it will beat you up if you are a little off that day.
Of of the best in Reno area!
I went for my first round back this season. I was pleasantly surprised with how nice the condition of the course was even though it is still winter. Some of the greens even looked like it was peak season. You can tell they take pride in the course. THE CARTS ARE TERRIBLE. Other than a small gps attachment in the corner, the carts felt as if they were going to fall apart. Facilities were nice and food was good.
ALWAYS A CHALLENGE
Love playing this course. Shot selection around the water holes is a must. Some fairways have large bunkers in front of the greens. Need to stay out of them or you'll be sorry. You may find your ball in the water if you don't pay attention to the sloping fairways on several holes.
Love Course Layout
Love the course, but the greens were very bumpy and sandy, and they were also quick so it was difficult to put. Also, had some bad luck with our cart. Broke a steering rod on the third hole, limped through nine and exchanged for another cart and almost ran out of battery on the back nine.
Lots of different challenges
The course is in pretty good shape for this time of year. The greens were not consistent due to the weather and exposure.
Bunkers were packed and wet + difficult
GPS did not work
Had a good time and enjoyed the course.
Winter golf
For being in the winter the course is in great shape. Ball rolls on the fairways and hard to stop on the greens. Almost no dead spots on the course. Price is great. Summer time it's in amazing shape. Always try to play early before the wind comes in.
