Looking back towards Vegas Photo submitted by Akpsy1 on 10/10/2012
Great Day to Play the Badlands
It was a great day at the golf course. I have not played the Badlands in over 10 yrs. and the course had changed quite a bit. I was teamed up with 2 young men from CA and we had a ball playing the course..
The course was in excellent condition and the weather added to our great time..
Bring balls
Target golf. Lots of fun. Hit driver off the tee on Desperado at your own peril. Outlaw is wide open. Relatively. Greens were pock marked. Come on people, fix your ball marks! Greens were fast! Staff were great.
fun at badlands
course was in good shape played in under 4 hours as a 4some beautiful day would play again one tip greens don't break as much as they look
One of the Best in Las Vegas
Badlands can certainly hold its own, and if you seek to challenge yourself, this is likely a course for you. There are 3 courses, each 9 holes, and you can contact the Pro Shop if you do have a preference with regards to which ones to play, and in which order.
For those whom want a leisure like round of golf, you will be better off booking at another course.
Badlands does enforce pace of play!
Focus on your strengths, and don't be afraid to play your game, and you will have a great time. If you try to "beat" the course, you may want to bring a fair amount of luck, as the risk - reward propositions are bountiful here.
There are a lot of reasons why you should play Badlands, and if time permits, try all 3. Remember to hydrate, put on sunscreen, you are after all in the desert. You have probably already figured out that you need to bring extra balls, as there are out of bounds areas where the rattlesnakes are plentiful, and hunting for lost balls just are not worth it.
Fun and Challenging
A great course with target fairways. Our pace of play was a little slow due to a slow group in front of us.
Good value.
Picturesque and challenging. You should have at least 6 balls.
Desperado and Outlaw
Played this course with a couple of buddies up for a Vegas weekend. We played Desperado nine first, followed by the Outlaw nine. Both courses were spectacular, phenomenal views and conditions.
Desperado is very challenging, have to play "target golf", very unforgiving if not spot on. Outlaw was just as spectacular, but more forgiving.
Worst customer service in all of LV??
1- Cart attendant did not lock my bag when they loaded me up. Bag fell all over cement and scratched my clubs.
2- Starter Ray told us there were "300 names on the tee sheet" and sent us to first tee box with 3 other groups waiting to get started. Very rude and confused to everyone he encountered
3-We left the course after 7 holes after realizing we were on pace for a 6.5 hour round. 2-3 groups waiting on each tee box etc.
4-asked pro shop on our way out if there was anything that could be done. He said "If you book on GOLFNOW.com, there is nothing we can do for you no matter what. We can only help you if you booked directly through us"
So we played only 7 holes total for full price paid.
So beware, if you book on golfnow, you do not have the same rights as the other golfers!
First course I have ever heard doing this.
Nice course, perfect weather, but I would stay very far away from this course unless you have 7 hours for a round of golf.
Badlands, vegas
This is a great course to work on accuracy. For most of the two (Diablo and Desperado) courses, put away your driver, as the fairways are narrow and surrounded by the natural desert landscape. We played 27 to get in all three of the 9 hole course and Diablo is definitely the toughest and most demanding for ball placement.
Great Course
This was my first time playing golf in Las Vegas. Excellent course and lots of scenery and wildlife to take in.
Nice course..target golf! Challenging!
Not for beginners! Course is in excellent condition despite recent over-seeding. Will play again.
Badlands
Only saw the cart girl 2 times. Not once on back nine
Interesting but very difficult course
This course is worth playing but don't expect to shoot your normal score here. You will likely have some penalty strokes and lose some balls in the canyons. It is an interesting layout.

Golf Vacation - Day 2 of 3
I'll try to keep this short and sweet, no fluff. This was our first time in Vegas and wanted to play some desert style courses. Everyone I talked to recommended Badlands (for the experience & challenges) and I'm not disappointed because both of those were fun.
Pros:
> It lives up to the hype of target golf
> Perfect desert setting. I expected to hear "beep beep" and see a roadrunner being chased by Whiley-Coyotee
> Course was in really good condition, especially when you consider that it's a desirable destination PUBLIC course.
> Cart based GPS with every stat imaginable = no club selection guessing
Cons:
> Cart based GPS that constantly harassed us with messages to keep up with the course's pre-approved playing time. Problem is - the group in front of us was playing slow and we had no where to go & the group behind us never caught up to us. We're on vacation, we're not in a rush.
> I would assume that most of the golfers playing this course are tourists, just trying to play a "must play course in Vegas", and typically most men (when in a group setting, where alcohol most likely is involved - IT's VEGAS BABY) will play from the wrong tees and end up hacking their way through 18 holes.
4 pros vs 2 cons and I wouldn't recommend this course to a friend?!?!? What's up with that. The constant messages were that much of a pain that it ruined the experience. If the warnings were valid, I'd understand, but they were unwarranted.
Excellent Shape right now
The Course was in excellent shape. We played on the Saturday and the pace of play was very good. I would play the course again. The outlaw is the easiest of the 3. They need to work with the starter on how to greet the customers. If you play Diablo and Desperado they are good challenging courses.
Amazing!!
Course was in fantastic shape, very challenging, target course. the layout is amazings as are the views! Great value and buy the little course layout book, you will need it to get your ball where is needs to go. Great value on Golfnow.com, I will be back!!
Challenging and Scenic Course
Great course just outside of Vegas for less than half the price of the courses on the Strip... Played here a few years ago when I first started playing and I knew I'd be back to play here again !
Badlands/Badass
Diablo was a little more open and I played it first. Then played Desperdo WOW need to hit a lot of placement
shots off the tee to score on par 4, was lots of fun.
Quite challengig Course
What a wonderful course, but quite difficult specially for men, they have to play their t-shot over wide canyons before arriving on the fairway. We lost many balls, but also found quite a lot.
