Looking back towards Vegas Photo submitted by Akpsy1 on 10/10/2012
Las Vegas Gem!
This is a gorgeous setting that combines traditional golf holes and desert target golf. It is exceptionally well maintained. Views are awesome. Course and green conditions were very good. It is challenging, but playable with the tee selections. Highly recommended.
Many Holes Well Designed - but pace of play very slow
1st time playing the course. Thought the layout of the couse was very challenging and enjoyed the different looks which you encounter during the round. Starter was not well organized and didn't really seemed engaged in what he was doing. The round was extremely slow and no water provided on the couse. This was extremely disppointing vs. other couses played in the area. Fun to play, but make sure we buy plently of water to avoid the impact of the heat.
great course great conditions and friendly and helpful staff
Great course beautiful scenery great course conditions and friendly and helpful staff!
Golfing Badlands
Badlands golf course is a challenging field. A place most golfers would want to include on their list of courses to be played.
Needs to be mowed !!
Great course lay-out. But the fairways need to be mowed. Lost 2 balls in the middle of the fairway...really!
Absolutely Amazing
We were celebrating my birthday in Vegas and a friend recommended this course. It is probably the prettiest and best maintained one we have ever played. It is pretty challenging and we lost balls but that should not scare away because it was a great time. We enjoyed the fact the golfers maintained the proper attire, didn't slow down the pace with extra shots and searching too long for lost golf balls. The staff greatest us in the parking lot to help get clubs ready before and after the round. We got an extremely great deal at $43 per player thru Golf Now and it was we'll, well worth it. The Marshall was out cruising checking on pace and we finished right about 4 hours. He wasn't the friendliness guy so that's why I only gave 4 stars in this area. Great day all in all!
driveable
Keeping it straight is the key. I was paired up with some Canadians. They were friendly and competitve, which added to the enjoyment. I was charged a $25 riding fee for my wife who did not play, that's not cool. Way too many divots on the greens. Other than that , fantastic views and the mini-canyons and drop offs kept things interesting. Def. recommend in Vegas.
Challenging but fun
This is challenging course but fun to play. Not like most courses where you almost always tee off with driver on par4 or higher holes. You'll have to use strategy and smart play for low scores. Can't wait for my next round there and the staff are very polite and helpful.
Good test of golf
Had a good time playing with 3 guys that I met for the first time. I was very grateful to play with someone who knew the course, because Badlands is a good test of your golf game. I really liked the course and I will certainly put Badlands on my list of favorite courses to play.
straight hitter
tight fairways and small greens. hit the ball straight or it will be a long round. very slow play over 5 hours. Practice green closed and mats only on the range.
Badlands review rude starter
Overall course shape was good-excellent, greens were slow oddly enough. I had heard it was target golf, not any more than other courses really. The worse part was the starter was frankly rude. Don't know who he thinks he is, but I've never been talked to like I was 5-yrs-old by a starter and I've played courses all over the country. I liked the course, but I won't go back d/t lack of professionalism. Too bad...
bad lands = bad greens
Ungodly amount of ball marks. Please fix your ball marks golfers.
course front nine challenging
course in good condition considering the hot weather. course in process of being reseeded in coming weeks.
2 9's
Course is set almost as 3 separate 9 holes. Not sure which 9 hole stretch it was, but there was a lot of "Local knowledge" required, especially for the tee shots. Across canyons to thin fairways angled away, over rocks off tee, blind tee shots. Would be played 100% differently a 2nd time. Other 9 holes much more straight forward. either way, great value for $40, considered standard times over $100.
Great Holiday Weekend Fun
The staff was well prepared for the weekend and the drink cart made plenty of trips around, throughout the round. Marshall made plenty of rounds to make sure we were okay and kept us up on how the conditions were ahead. Course was in excellent shape and the roughs were quite challenging. The greens were in good shape.
Diablo & Desperado does not disappoint!
From the back tees this course is very demanding on tee shot accuracy. The greens were in fair shape only due to unrepaired ball marks. Accuracy on the approach shot is required based on the multiple hazards around the greens, especially the canyons. If you follow the recommendations on the global range finder you will shoot a decent score, if not, bring a lot of balls! Play is slow due to hung over Vegas partyers...
Overall great fun ecperiende
The day at Badlands was really excellent. the staff was friendly and the food was good. the course was in great condition in the pace of play was above average . overall I'd say the course is a wonderful value and a really fun place to play around the golf.
Fun but Challenging
Great course, great weather, great pairing made for a great round at BadLands.
Two days in a row
I played Badlands 2 days in a row. Granted it was August, but the temps were only 100. The course played fast and true. If you have never been to Badlands before, just remember GREEN. You want your ball on green stuff at all times. The desert is very punishing. The course was in great shape, and the greens held very well. They give you bottled water to start and there are water coolers all over the course. I play this course at least once every time I go to Vegas, and I have not ever experienced bad conditions.
Bad Day at Badlands
The facilities and golf course were in superb condition. The greens were lush, not too many unrepaired ball marks, but a little slow for my taste. My gripe was that the driving range was not open when we arrived early (6;00am) for our 6:30 tee time. Their excuse was that the drive shaft was broken on the ball retrieving machine. I know machines break down, but they could have had some balls for the early guys to warm-up. You need that on this "target golf" course.
