Looking back towards Vegas Photo submitted by Akpsy1 on 10/10/2012
nice trst
Bring an accurate tee shot. and you will have a nice round. If you are looking for wide fairways this is not the place. Many long carries over desert required.
Good Value
Course was good for the money, but most of the fairways and greens were like concrete.
ok staff kind of harsh
ok staff kind of harsh. staff not that friendly. cart girls could have been better looking .
Excellent Track and Only 20 Mins from Strip
Second time here and I will go back. I'm a 10 and find this course challenging and not tricked up. It should be free but I advise buying the course guide or at least pay close attention to the screen on the cart. Several of the holes require an iron off the tee or a lay-up on your second shot. The greens held well and putted true. The cart girl and the bartender are excellent.
Solid Course
After reading previous reviews I was not going to play this course, but with the Pre-Paid Deal for $75 I decided to play and I am glad I did.
Here is my review.
Very Good Shape. There where a couple tee boxes that where slighty beat up but nothing like some reviews said. Yes it is True Desert Target Golf. Bring an old club to hit out of desert or decide before you play if you can move from desert to grass and not take a stroke. The GPS does not have a layout of hole but does tell you some lay up shots. If you want to spend the $7 then I suggest get a yardage book.
Overall if you get the $75 prepaid price this is a steal for a Vegas Course close to strip. Gives you true feeling that you are playing golf in the desert.
Windy Day Makes for Tough Scoring
Played here Sunday the 4th in very high winds. The high winds had dried out and firmed up the greens. It was extremely difficult to stop a ball on the greens. Even chips and putts rolled out 10-12 feet farther than expected on downwind shots.
Course in good shape, pace of play slow
Played desperado and outlaw. As an 18 handicap, found desperado difficult since it's mostly blind tee shots. Outlaw was much more open and easier to navigate. Fairways were in great condition, however, the greens were a bit patchy.
We had an afternoon tee time and basically had to wait between every shot. Round took about 4 1/2 hours.
The staff was very friendly and the food was average.
It was an okay experience overall but I would choose TPC Las Vegas over this course in the future.
plush
second time here and no disappointment.this will be an must play when in town
Fivesomes killed the value
The management stresses pace of play - two separate cards on the golf carts say that the round is expected to take four hours. One goes further and states that if the pace is not maintained the offenders will be told they must skip a hole. Sending out two fivesomes in a row made a mockery of their good intentions. The pace was more like five hours as the whole course backed up behind those groups. A real shame as the course is fair while being challenging.
Lots of value here....
I played this course with a friend on a Sunday. It's a top notch facility. Plenty of young guys in "those" bright blue shirts to get your bags onto the cart & range balls if you want them.
The starter was a friendly fella & told us what TWO sets of 9 holes we'd be playing. (( when we were done with our round, we drove the cart on the 3rd stanza of 9 holes, just for looks-eeez )).
This course challenges you. It's really beautiful, though and that makes up for any shortcomings you have in your game, Lol. Many of the tee-boxes are elevated, so get ready for great views! Many fairways have houses, huge houses, or MANSIONS. Omgosh, i'm so jealous.
The greens are quick. The fairways are in good shape. If you're prone to losing balls -- you're likely to lose more here, on account of the canyons and arroyos. But, that's not a bad thing. I had a lot of fun.
Fair test
I played forward tees as I've not played the course before. That was a good choice. A twosome with our group played the blues and were in the desert many of the holes. Play the right tees for your ability.
Outlaw 9 AWEFUL
Played Desperado first and had a great time. It was in excellent shape and very challenging. Played the Outlaw 9 next and thought it was an absolute joke. Fairways were in terrible shape and really made the round disappointing. For $120 I really expect more. Played Desperado and Diablo in the past and really enjoyed it. If you play Badlands I would highly recommend staying away from the Outlaw 9.
Badlands not too bad!
Have been coming to Vegas for over 40 years and have somehow managed to miss playing this wonderful layout. If one plays from the correct tee box for ones handicap the course is a sporty challenge. If you choose the wrong tees then the arroyos and washes come into play.
I will be back to play this one again.
Men's Club, wwomen not really welcome!
We were 2 ladies in Vegas to golf. Spectacular elevation ahd holes, tons of bunnies and scenery. Easy to get to. HOWEVER, most unfriendly pro shop I have ever been to. Borderline rude, no insrructions on where to go. We got to the starter down the hill, named Jim, and we asked about the range. Exact words, Did you get balls at the clubhouse? Were we asked at the club house , no. Quote "WELL IF YOU DIDNT ASK FOR THEM, YOU WILL BE LUCKY IF THERE ARE SOME THERE AND YOU SHOULD HAVE ASKED". A twosome of guys drove up, he immediately turned to them, just left us, in he middle of telling us where the range was". We hit some balls and we wer off. One gorgeous challenging holeafter another on one course, very ordinary course on the other. We played 4 timed in 5 days on other courses. Not a pleasant experience, so were dissappointed. Club house run down, no at all what was expected, needs a huge makeover. Had a great breakfast though and the waitress was super. Would not go back to the MENS club. Too bad, womens money is just as good as mens.
accuracy
The very first thing that I noticed about this course is that the GPS is not work properly.so if you're heading to the golf course did not follow the GPS after you get off the freeway.instead, make a left on rampart and make a right on Alta and a left on clubhouse.
An attendant will greet you at the parking lot. They'll pick you up in the cart that you will be using for your round. Great service.
I played outlaw for my front nine. It took a few minutes to get to the first tee. Just enjoy the scenery and expect to lose plenty of balls. Be straight, be accurate and the greens are fast.
My back nine was Diablo. More target golfzing but if your not causing any back up and you've decided to look for your ball, you will probably find plenty of balls laying around the dessert.
Enjoy and I will come back and shoot in the 80's next time.
Compelling 3 Nines in Las Vegas
Course is located in a convenient access point within the Summerlin area and is staffed with very helpful and friendly people. Three nines offer a varying assortment of hole locations, each appear to culminate with a strong finishing hole. For early in the year, the conditions were quite good and the course appears popular. On my day, the University of Las Vegas Football Team was sponsoring an afternoon tournament. Come out and enjoy!
Course needs a picture of how the hole is setup.
Course is great but needs a picture of hole the hole is setup.
greens
Course was very nice. Desperado was a very difficult 9 with danger everywhere. Greens were very challenging but beat up and tough to putt. Overall a very nice course.
Good course
Good golf course if u like target golf.
GPS on carts not detailed enough for first time players. Hard to know what distances were safe to hit. Greens very average .
Disappointed
Not worth the money, especially if you have to play the Outlaw 9. Terrible condition. Staff acknowledged this yet would not discount. Of the 19 Vegas area courses I have played in the past few years Outlaw was by far the worst conditioned course. If you play you must insist on not playing Outlaw. Diablo and Desperado are very nice. These two nines are extremely difficult. Outlaw is much more playable, but not worth playing because of the poor conditions.
