Target golf
target golf but with a bit of leeway... not as bad or difficult as the name implies. Played Diablo and Desperado will play it again when in town.
This is an excellent course. Everyone is nice and totally professional. You cannot ask for a better view of the valley.
Everything was great. Food, course, staff and the overall conditions and pace of the game. There was no wait to tee off. The Ranger and Starter know their craft well. Some of the holes are extremely challenging. Even for a 10 handicap like myself. The range finders in the carts are great, but I think to help the golfer make a better tee shot, signs at the tee mapping each hole, with yardage markings, would be a valuable asset to all golfers. Especially with some of the blind tee shots golfers will encounter. Play speed will increase because more golfers will find their ball.
interesting layout breath taking views tough layout
I arrived 1 hr. in advanced to hit a bucket of balls, there wasn't a lot of direction on where to go as far as the practice green or the driving range I started looking and was told to my surprise a bucket came with the round ,unfortunately their were no balls at the range so I practiced putting. It seemed kind of disorganized as to when and who was I playing with, that said the course is very challenging from the blue tees I'm a legit 12hcp. and it ate my lunch so if you don't carry it at least 250 straight your going to be hitting a lot of shots from the desert so I suggest the whites ,all in all the course was in very good shape.
Very challenging course
Loved playing this course would go back again. Want to make sure you stay on fairways as the rocky canyons and desert are very close.
Very different between 9's with fast greens
Played with other reviewer. Agree that Desparado was a lot of target golf with no bailout and about 160 yds of carry to reach fairway. Not for high hc. More grass on Outlaw. Course is in pretty good shape for a reasonable price so I would play it again. Tough putting especially from above the hole. Google maps took me to the wrong place. Make sure you check where entrance is. Lost warmup time so started poorly.
Tight and challenging course.
A couple holes were a little quirky, and even with a yardage book required local knowledge (what else would you expect from a guy like Jonny Miller?).
Not a good course for beginners or short hitters, but I'll definitely play it again.
Pace of play was good-a little over 4 hours despite numerous lost balls in our group.
Get ready for an adventure!!
The name says it all!! This course is extreme golf at its best. A lot of elevation changes, narrow fairways, risk reward is outstanding and the greens are like felt. Played all three of the 9 hole courses, each presents unique challenges. Long hitters can put the drivers away on most holes or you may over shoot the fairways. There are a couple of par 4s that you can make the green if you dare!! Miss the fairway and you are playing in the dessert with the bunnies, coyotes and snakes watching.
Great layout and only 15 minutes from the strip. Make sure to order before you make the turn, the food and grill are outdoors.
Hope you like target golf
Had the chance to play Badlands while on a business trip to Vegas this past week. The staff and facility were great. Rental clubs were new Pings and came with 2 sleeves of balls, though they cost $55 for the round.
On the course, we played the Desperado/Outlaw combination. The course is quite short -- less than 6200 yards from the Blue tees. The Desperado 9 was true desert target golf - very short, and anything off the fairway was unplayable. Many holes had no real risk/reward aspect, as there were no bailout points. Visually attractive, but not the most fun. The Outlaw 9 was more forgiving, and while water and ravine was often in play, it was not as hit or miss.
The higher handicappers in our group had a tremendous amount of trouble with the course, and may have gone through 15-20 balls during the round.
tough love!
I love the challenge of this course. If you hit it straight you will be ok. Greens are FAST. Layout is tough, but fair. Had a great time for the second time and look forward to giving it another go!
Great layout. Greens were fantastic.
The layout offered visual interest as well as a good array of risk-reward holes. The course was in great condition and maintained. The greens were very good and the ball rolled well yet were challenging enough to have your full attention. The only disappointment, and a slight disappointment at that, was the tee boxes were a bit rough, but like I say, not enough to be too upset about. Overall I really liked this course and would definitely go back when I am in Vegas again.
Bring balls, lots of em!
Beautiful course but sooo tough. So many blind shots. If your not a scratch golfer keep the driver in the bag. I hit nothing but irons and hybrids. This was my 2nd time out since December. Big mistake. Lost about a half dozen balls and shot a 105. I am normally low 90's...course beat me up. Didnt help I got stuck playying with another twosome and another single who had his 2 little kids with him. ughhh...6 of us? I wanted to jump ahead into the 3some in front of us but didnt want to offend anyone.
Nice course green fast golf cart got gps good view
All Staff was nice, bag drop have great service ,golf cart is in good condition with gps ,so I have no problem with yards. The clubhouse is nice and have clean restrooms. The course is in good condition, green is super fast, and has a very nice view. the price I paid through golf now is 30$ it is incredible. all four of us had a nice time with badlands golf course. will play it again every time
Poor Greens, Unhelpful Staff
Course was in terrible condition from tee to green. Tee boxes were cut to the length of rough, greens were terribly pock-marked from unrepaired ball marks. Bunkers were as hard as a rock. GPS on the carts was severely out-dated compared to area courses. Staff was unfriendly, unhelpful, and uninterested. Terribly disappointing course. Distances on scorecard seem to be exaggerated, course does not play the listed distance at the tips. Would highly recommend you play any of the three Paiute Resort courses which are in excellent condition with great customer service.
An extensive summary of the Badlands Golf Course
Great staff.
Great course,
Great real estate tour.
very playable
Holes were not to long and everything is right in front of you no surprizes. Course was in good shape, the greens were quite fast and a litle difficult to read. I played with a local so I had some help, though the breaks in the greens were twice what I read. Overall it was a fun and challenging day. I would rate the whole experience course, staff and value as four and a half stars, would play it again next time we visit Vegas.
Very Challenging Course
The straff was very friendly and helpful. I was paired with two people who had not played the course before and aplayer who played regularly. He was VERY helpful in directing where to hit shots to stay out of trouble. Too bad my ball didn't cooperate :) This course is VERY DIFFICULT if you do not hit the ball straight. Many canyons and gorges are in play on almost every hole.
Warning: extreme target golf
If you enjoy 150 to 200 yard blind tee shots, and almost an entire round of target golf than you'd enjoy this. I HATED IT. In fairness, it could be more enjoyable the 2nd or 3rd time around when you have an idea of where to position yourself. The GPS must be dated pre cold-war era and is useless.
Jekyll & Hyde
We started on the Diablo 9...very tough, tight, target golf. Enjoyed most of it, but sand must be expensive because the 3 that I landed it were basically devoid of dry sand...all mud.
Played the Outlaw 9 second. Very wide open - very much a resort course layout. Same issue with the bunkers, though thankfully I only hit 1. There are some holes on this layout that are a bit contrived for my taste, but the other 3 in my group enjoyed them.
Overall, nice course in pretty good shape. Greens were very ball-marked up, but kind of expect that in resort golf. Would definitely play here again, though would like to start on a 9 other than Diablo.
Fun Track
Pros - Interesting risk reward holes. Par 3s are very interesting holes. In great shape. Greens were really good...fast and undulating.
Cons - Pace of play can drag a little at times as it did during this round, but nothing too bad. We played in 41/2 hrs. If you spray it off the tee it might not be much fun as you go from fairway to the rocks on most holes.
Overall - I usually try to hit Badlands when I get to Vegas and I will continue to play here in the future. Pretty good value and course conditions have always been good.
Slow play on a Thursday afternoon
Great course, really challenging target golf, need to be long on the drive
