Target Golf at its most Annoying
Apart from the par 3's which were solid, this is just an annoying course for the traveling golfer. Way too many gimmicky holes. Lots of irons off the tee and not in an interesting way, but in a contrived way, by simply cutting off fairways whenever the designer felt like it.
Maybe if you were a local you could play it a few times and it might grow on you... might. But for me, no way I won't return and I wouldn't recommend it for any other out of towners. Drive out to Paiute if you want some awesome desert golf.
Paid next to nothing for the round and still felt it wasn't worth it.
Good Conditions for a Cool Winter
Course was in very good shape considering it was December. Greens rolled fairly well and the fairways were in good-great condition. This is a tough course if you are wild with the driver, there is not much forgiveness if you miss either Left or Right.
Must see in Vegas
Loved the course. Lot of rabbits which My daughter liked. Very professional. Included free dirvinig range which was cool . Rental clubs were top of the line. Great time. Must goto while in Vegas if you golf. The price was more reasonable than the other courses in Vegas as well.
Tough, beautiful course
The course is very challenging and a beautful layout. The staff was very friendly on the course and the marshall helped us out a bit. There was no water in the Gatorade jugs on the course but they did drive out some bottled water to us. The pace was mixed. We flew on the front but there was a large group that slowed the play down. Still more than reasonable at about 4 1/4 hours. I would recommend it for sure, but it's worth somewhere in the $75 range, not $140+...but that's non-resident golf in Las Vegas...ugh
Great spot
3.5 hour round is always great!
A fun golf course and an easy ride from the Las Vegas strip.
Definitely will and look forward to playing again
An excellent challenging golf course. Played as a walk-on and was grouped with other singles and we had a great day out.
The staff from bag drop to taking me to the car after the round were friendly guys. Certainly should be one to play if you are wanting a good round of golf and are not a higher handicap player. I don't know that higher handicappers would enjoy this course as it is challenging to this mid-handicapper.
Course has potential, but unless shortcomings are addressed it is no better than a D+
The outside staff was not cordial; they seemed putoff by customers. The GPS was primative. The course had many greens that couldn't be seen from the tees, & lacked an illustration, either at the teebox, on the score card or with GPS. The Desparado nine was horrible. maybe 3 holes that warrante driver off the tee. Target golf that had many repetitive shots i.e. 150-180 off the tee; without a visual of the entire hole. Our golf cart and 2 others we saw ran out of juice by hole 16, so much so that it would not make the inclines with 2 people on board.
Do you really know how far you hit your clubs?
THE COURSE
My wife and I played Diablo and Desperado after a tee delay of an hour or so for snow on the course. Yea like yall it doesn't matter the conditions we all just want to play right? Well, at the Badlands you need every advantage and cold weather, shorter ball carry and layers of clothes is not one of those advantages.
The course is very fair and gives each player a viable option. Well, not every player. The options are there for those who can hit a respectable tee or iron shot. This doesn't mean youre going to cruise to a great number. What it means is you MUST, even from the forward tees have some distance potential with you're clubs. If you can't whack it with some ferocity you likely will not carry the distance from target to target. If you do not carry the distance your ball will be in the "Wash", the "Badlands" the "Devils Triangle" the whatever you want to call it but its a place where its truly gone and to be forgotten. If you're drives stray, your irons are seldom where you want them then bring an extra dozen,
All kidding aside this is a huge test of golf skill but most of all "NERVE" I've played Baultusrol Lower, and Bethpage Black, and many more from the tips and all of those have slopes in the 150 range. Its one thing to have grass and bunkers between you and the hole but its another to have terrain you can't even walk in and for substantial distances between targets. This golf course is one of the most aesthetic and beautiful landscapes of alll and hidden out of sight in the middle of Summerland Las Vegas
Fairways and Tees
Perfect
Clubhouse
Modest but well quipped but could use a Psychiatric Ward for post round relief free of charge.
Practice Facility
Absolutely perfect.
Staff
The very best in the business.
Course was in great shape and the target golf layout was challenging and fun to play.
Great course in great shape. Fun layout but very challenging.
Great value with GolfNow.com
Course was in Great condition. Played Diablo and Outlaw. Three 9 hole courses causes some mixups as players come from a different nine and try to play the wrong second nine holes. Pay attention to the starter and get the right courses for your round. Had to warm up from mats on the range, not my favorite thing to do, but it is the off season.
Stunning views and some tricky reads on the greens. Generally, the slope is toward Las Vegas Blvd, keep that in mind as you read the greens. Played from the blue tees - not for the faint of heart or average golfer. Some of the par 5's required a 220+ yard carry from tee to fairway.
Great course overall, if you get a chance to lay it don't miss the opportunity.
Totally enjoyed the course & staff
First of all it was a beautiful November day except think Hawaii weather. Temperature in the high 60's, no wind, and almost no clouds. Evidently we caught a good weather week as it was in the 40's & 50's the week before. Now getting to the course, it was in excellent shape from tee to green. It was my first time at this course and there were several times I wasn't sure to hit driver or lay up to a certain yardage. Fairways had lots of undulations and several ravines fronting the green. If not for a 13 on one of the par 5's i would have had a great score but glad I shot an 84. we had breakfast in the dining room and the staff was very friendly as was the staff in the pro shop. Views of the mansions around the course were a sight and some views of the Vegas strip hotels and Red Rock Mountains could also be seen. I definitely would return to play this course again.
Very scenic
The course has enough diversity to challenge all talent levels.
The 1st nine allowed me to, Warm-up. 2nd nine? You better hope the wind isn't blowing. Target golf at it's best.
Stunning views and precision shot placement required.
The whole experience from arriving to hitting the first hole was effortless and so enjoyable. Course condition was excellent. Staff so friendly and helpful. Driving range ready with as many balls as you want to hit to warm up. All carts have gps with distances to 4 different spots depending on where you lie. Upon finishing the round your clubs are wiped clean and bags are ready for yo to transport. The staff even had transportation ready for us within 5 minutes (a limo to boot). I highly recommend this course to any golfer that has a half decent shot. If you are a beginner bring lots of balls :)
Playing in Vegas
Heard so much about this course we had to play it when over. Played Diablo/Outlaw . Was surprised at how open the course was, had been told it was target golf, but was much better than that. You do have to put the ball in the right place for some holes but it was an enjoyable experience.
Very nice ...
Once the greens are cleared of light sanding it will be very good. Nice layout, not too difficult, very nicely maintained.
Great value for the challenge!
Nice course and very challenging. Better be able to place your drives. Great value.
Beautiful setting.
Located in canyons in northwest Las Vegas. Good layout. Fairways were not in very good condition. Greens were fine. Target golf with few bailout areas. Two par fours on Diablo nine were unreachable. Played with a very nice local member who said making 5 on these two holes was good. Waited on most shots.
Stunning and beautiful
This is a stunning course. It is beautifully laid out and in great shape. The site lines and views are fantastic.
I will be playing this course again, and again.
Nice course, but challenging
Course is in great shape. Very quick but soft greens. The Desperado-Diablo is target golf. Many places to lose a ball.
Staff is very pleasant and helpful. I play here whenever I
can. A little pricy, but well worth the money.....
Desert golf experience....
Friendly and courteous staff. Target golf for sure on the Desperado course. The Outlaw course gives the golfer a welcomed breather!
