Las Vegas National Golf Course
About
A traditional golf course in the land of faux waterfalls, shooting fountains and mountains, Las Vegas National Golf Club is actually part site of Tiger Woods' first win on the PGA Tour.
Las Vegas National was part of the rotation of the Las Vegas Invitational when Woods broke onto the Tour in 1996. Tiger actually won the Las Vegas Invitational (then a 90-hole, multi-course event) with a final round 64 on the private TPC at Summerlin track, erasing David Love III's four-stroke lead.
Average hackers will find a course with plenty of trees in the desert and five inventive par 3s that give National much of its character. This isn't desert golf. It's old school golf with palm trees and sand.
It is also very close to the Strip, just a few turns and about a 10-minute drive away. The area's built up around it with fast-food shops, but the Rat Pack era style remains alive within Las Vegas National's grounds.
"As you pull into the lot at Las Vegas National, the sense of the sixties is evident in the rectangular pastel colored stucco clubhouse that might have seemed modernistic back then, but now is a charming reminder of an architecturally dated style," TravelGolf.com writer Doug Saunders said.

Good, But Slow
Played the course on a busy Sunday morning. I enjoyed the overall layout very much. It was fun to see a little bit of old Vegas along the way. I imagine at one time the LV National neighborhood was among the nicest in the city. Sadly, those times are gone, but the course has stood the test of time.
Overall the condition of the course was average to slightly above. Greens were in good shape, though the fairways were a bit patchy in spots. No bad though - certainly playable.
My only issue would be pace of play. We caught up to the group in front of us on the back nine. We were on pace for a sub 4 hour round prior to that, but things pretty much came to a screeching halt on #11. Still, got the round in about 4 hours 15 minutes, which isn't too bad.
I like the course. I'd definitely play it again.
NICE OLD SCHOOL COUNTRY CLUB
COURSE WAS IN GREAT SHAPE, LOTTS OF TREES AND GRASS FOR A VEGAS COURSE.
HOMES IN THE AREA ARE AN EYE SORE BUT SOME ARE GOOD OLD VEGAS. THAT COURSE WAS GREAT CONDITION AND LOOK FORWARD TO PLAYING AGAIN
History and charm
A break from open desert courses in the area, the history and charm of this country club style atmosphere is well done. Great course, conditions, and friendly staff made for an enjoyable round.
las vegas golf
This course is a pleasure to play.the staff is friendly and the course is fair to play.rewards you for good shots and penalized for bad ones.I will play it again.
So close to an A
First off, legendary layout, for sure one of the best Las Vegas has to offer. The condition of the course is very good, and the playability is addicting. Just to walk those grounds and hit those shots that so many greats have before is a thrill. That being said there are a few short falls.
1.) the rough could be a bit longer and really challenge the above average player.
2.) Dry, old mats on the range! It's like having to eat an old sausage before a steak dinner.
Overall rating: B +
A nice link to Vegas' past
Put this one on you schedule just for the experience. It would no longer qualify to host a PGA or LPGA event anymore but is still well maintained. Depending on which tees you select, you will probably hit everything in your bag.
Nice Traditional Track
Nice traditional track, good value for the $89 green fee.
Clubhouse upgrade on outside, in desperate need of indoor upgrades.
Course in decent shape, greens not bad for spring.
Tournament the day before left pins tucked in behind bunkers in almost impossible locations to get the ball close.
97 degress F the day we played, extremely windy, a 2-3 club wind, made it tough to play some par 5's.
Nice old course!
Played this course 3 times this week... It's one of the closest courses to the strip. Staff are friendly, cart girls come by often. The greens weren't in the best shape with plenty of plug marks and unrepaired divots and could be rolled a bit more, but aside for on that the course was in good shape. It has nice wide fairways and the rough is cut pretty short. Lots of bunkers. Hard to beat for the price!!!
Simply average, too bad.
I was hoping to like this Slice of Old Vegas, but the unwelcoming feel from the staff, and sense of entitlement of the regulars, make this a one off for me. I played my round with 3 gentlemen from Denmark; there were two groups ahead of our foursome. As we finished the 11th (par 3) hole the Marshal approached us about slow play. He (the Marshal) suggested that we let some “REGULARS” play through before our next hole. The group ahead of us had just teed-off on the 12th (par 4). I said the group ahead of us just teed-off. The Marshal said well, these guys behind you play here every day.
We did not wait and finished our round in 4 hrs. and 10 minutes. Generally, Non-resident pay a premium to play golf in Tourist destinations. We (Vacationing Golfers) shouldn’t receive bad / rude service for the inflated privilege of playing at a golf course.
Great experience!
Course is in great shape. Greens are somewhat slow, but very true. All in all, it was a great experience.
Outstanding Older Layout
Great design, love the older style course. You can make it as difficult as you want deepnding on the tees you select.
Great track uncovered
LVNGC has re-discovered its golf course over the last few years. It's amazing what new staffing and new strains of grass can do to course conditions.
The greens were about perfect; the fairways were excellent; and the rough was just about right. Even the range was in good shape. This course also has some of the best bunker sand around. Much improved since I played the National 4 years ago. My only complaint was the grass on the tees, which needed a quick haircut (We played on a Saturday mid-day, and I'm guessing they were cut Friday morning…a little fuzzy).
There's a great golf course here. Don't miss it.
Las Vegas National
Had an itch to play 18 so made a reservation the same day. Was able to rent clubs at a reasonable price and played 18 on a beautiful Saturday evening in a little under 3 hours.
Nice course
Good course and good value. The only thing that would have added to this course would be GPS system on cart to explain hole by hole lay out. Staff was very professional and service spectacular.
Overlooked Gem
In the past I have avoided playing the National because of poor course conditions due to the age of the course. Boy was I surprised at the condition the course is in now. Extremely well maintained and very playable. Staff was really friendly.
Only criticism is range is mats only and some of the infrastructure is in dyer need of updating.
Would definitely play here again very soon.
Good value, decent course.
Enjoyed our round. Greens looked bad but rolled very nicely. Well maintained course with friendly staff. I'll be back.
Las Vegas National
Good value and real nice layout. Would definitely play there again. Staff was very nice and the course was fun to play. Would be good for any level of golfer.
Solid deal on a nice cource--until you reach the greens
A nice feel good track with excellent course conditions until you reach the greens. The greens were hard, bumpy and a bit shaggy. But for $49 bucks on a beautiful Friday afternoon who is complaining? The best part was going in as a single and getting paired up with a good guy from London. We teed off at 4 pm and finished a6 7:05 just as the sun was setting. You really ask more than that,--other than a few less three putts.
OK course.
OK course, not real easy to find, map the hotel gave us not too good. Map quest ahead of time and should be OK. Greens were bumpy and slow, rest of course was fairly good. Due to poor map from hotel, we arrived right at our tee time, staff was very helpful at getting us checked in and onto the course.
