Las Vegas National Golf Course
About
A traditional golf course in the land of faux waterfalls, shooting fountains and mountains, Las Vegas National Golf Club is actually part site of Tiger Woods' first win on the PGA Tour.
Las Vegas National was part of the rotation of the Las Vegas Invitational when Woods broke onto the Tour in 1996. Tiger actually won the Las Vegas Invitational (then a 90-hole, multi-course event) with a final round 64 on the private TPC at Summerlin track, erasing David Love III's four-stroke lead.
Average hackers will find a course with plenty of trees in the desert and five inventive par 3s that give National much of its character. This isn't desert golf. It's old school golf with palm trees and sand.
It is also very close to the Strip, just a few turns and about a 10-minute drive away. The area's built up around it with fast-food shops, but the Rat Pack era style remains alive within Las Vegas National's grounds.
"As you pull into the lot at Las Vegas National, the sense of the sixties is evident in the rectangular pastel colored stucco clubhouse that might have seemed modernistic back then, but now is a charming reminder of an architecturally dated style," TravelGolf.com writer Doug Saunders said.

Not what I expected.
After reading up on this course, I was excited to play. This is a former PGA & LPGA course so it must be great, right? Course has alot of history and hey even Tiger Woods played here in 1996, must be good right? High notes of the round...staff was super friendly and the food was really good, golf course was not what I expected. Granted, I payed $60 for an afternoon twilight round which was a major discount compared to the morning round prices of $100.. Course was burnt up, greens were bumpy and dying. Back nine was is better shape than the front. Some nasty houses surround the course. Pony up and spend money elsewhere this time of year.
Great public track
I had a 10:30am tee time, I was allowed to go out early and was pleasantly surprised at the lay out. There is so much history at this golf course I was honored to play it. I shot my career low round with a group of two gentlemen that let me join their round. Oh and by the way drive the 300+ yard par 4 13th hole pin high! Will play here again when I return to Las Vegas.
Felt like a nice muni course
The course was in good shape with very fast greens and nice lush fairways. I didn't enjoy the scenery with all of the old Las Vegas style houses lining the putter edges of the course but that was expected. The pro shop staff wasn't at friendly and shuffled me in/out quickly and failed to mention that every cart came with 2 bottles of free water...after I had already purchased 2 bottles. It took the beverage cart girl to tell me that. The cart people who pick up bag and put on cart were exceptionally nice and helpful though. But for the price of 80/round I'm sure I can find many more courses that are way better, even though it was in great shape.
Great Course Great Value
Close to the strip and great value. Great layout and course has some challanging holes
course needs attention
fairways not the best landing areas. Half the sand traps had rocks in them. So many you had to move the ball and worry what might be under the surface of the sand.
Great time.
Had a great round and played with a local golfer that was very friendly and fun to play. Outstanding afternoon.
Good course, great value
The course was in great condition and has a number of challenging holes. Starts with a solid par 5 and ends with a challenging par 5.
Just a fine course
Played 18 holes the staff was very friendly and helpful. Grouped with some guys that play there always, at the course really helped on how to play the course very freindly . The greens were in great shape and the fairways were well manicured. Definitely will play there again next time I get to Vegas
las vegas natiional
You had better bring your A game this is a very difficult golf course if your handicap is higher than 15 you are going to struggle.
very good traditional course
employees very friendly, a great value for the money, foods great as well
Fairways could be mowed closer, but leaving them a little long in the heat is probaly best for the course.....greens were very nice....and challenging
Great 'classic' golf course...nothing fancy, just straightforward good golf course with a very convienient location for those staying on the strip.
One of Sin City's finest!
Great course rich in history and local folklore. Greens roll true and generous fairways.
Nostalgic Track, Worth Every Penny
Besides the fact that it used to be a stop on the PGA Tour and the Rat Pack used to party down there, this course is a must play simply for the great architecture. It has a comfortable flow and is challenging enough despite its short length. The homes surrounding the property are yesteryear and will not have you ooing and ahing which drags it down but if in Vegas its worth the price.
Poor choice for visitors
I was throughly disappointed with this course. With all the history (it ones hosted PGA & LPGA tour event), the course has deteriated to bad shape. The conditions of fairways and greens are not very good. At a $30 fee local resident, it is at least a value course to play. At >$70 for visitors, you could find a lot more better courses to play in Vegas. I played Spanish Trail, Bear's Best, LV Pauite-Wolf courses in the same trip for the similar price during the same trip and they are much better.
Challenging
Difficult course for us short hitters. I should have went from the senior tees. Just because you're in the fairway doesn't mean you have a shot at the green. That's where experience on the course comes in. Plan on playing it again, hopefully with better results.
Good times for all
Challenging course, good staff, good practice facility, good value.
Incredible value and one of the best conditioned courses!
We played this course about 8 years ago and it was a very nice "muni" style course. Under new management I guess for the last several years, it is now one an amazingly nice course! We played 4 courses this last weekend in Vegas and this was by far one of the best maintained of them all. An incredible value. The fairways were like some of the fairways you see at the $295 priced courses here in Vegas, and the greens outstanding. We will definitely come back and play.
Good Course
Good course. We had a good time. The staff members in the pro shop, cart area, starter, etc were all very cordial and helpful. Greens were much faster than our home greens, which is fine, just took some time for us to get used to. Course was maintained well. The "ditch area" was the only area that could use some help, as it did smell a little as you crossed.
The course is over priced.
I went to the course along, I was paired with a father & son that were locals. The pace on the front was very slow. We played the front nine twice because of the pace of play. I enjoyed my round because of the guys that I was paired with.
Course was well maintained and not too busy.
Liked the course. Challenging but not too difficult.
