Barony at Port Royal Golf Club

Our tee time was 11:16, did not tee off until 11:45.Starter said it was a resort course, tee times were always behind. waited on every shot every hole. got to hole number 2 (par 3) there were (4) foursomes waiting on tee box. no rangers anywhere. we finally “gave up” on hole 15 at 4:30pm.

very disappointed, would not recommend this course to anyone.

Nice course but greens still bumpy from aeration. Course layout favors draw tee shots mostly. But overall nice course and excellent staff.

Based on previous golfnow reviews that said course was in excellent shape I decided to book a tee time for 5/31 for a foursome. When we arrived at the starter, we was informed that the course had been plugged and sanded. The starter did offer to squeeze us into the robber row course if our group played medium to fast pace. Being our first time their and father in law very slow pace we proceeded to the barony course where the starter said no one was teeing off before us or within an hour after us. Arrived at first tee and a group of two was on tee box and while waiting another group of two feel in behind us. Pace of play ended up being a little slow due to first time players in front of us. On top of greens, there were several holes with recent re-sod around greens and sand boxes. Few tee boxes were beat up on the par three. There were a few greens that had not been plugged and they were very slow with some type of weed trying to grow in. Fairways were in good shape. I enjoyed the layout with multiple dog legs that required you to think about your shot. I should have hit an iron or fairway wood of the tee for most holes as a driver is a little to much. Overall I would play this course again but it will be some time to let the staff work on it. Even on the hot deal for $75 per person I felt it was too much for course condition.

Have played here on multiple occasions. Always a treat and the staff couldn’t be any friendlier or helpful.

Course is always in good shape and a pleasure to play.

I gave an average to course condition because there were a number of areas under repair. Dried sod, and reseeding of the greens. In all fairness, the recent temperatures were very warm, and I new the reseeding was underway. It is a beautiful course, and I would play again.

Booked our stay at Hilton head a few weeks ago. I asked my son who is new to golf if he would like to play. He isDoing very well with a PGA golf instructor and made his school's golf team but he has a lot to learn. Looked thru the reviews and felt like Baroney would a good fit plus it's up the street from the resort. Took the shuttle to the drop off, bag attendant was very nice and informed us to check in. Went into club house and the ladie looked at my confirmation email, gave me a ticket and told me to go see the ranger for our range balls. We go see the ranger, he hands us our range balls and shows us how to get to the range. We smack a few around and then return to the ranger for a scorecard. He then says "oh, you are playing Baroney, they not tell you that the greens were just aerated and overdressed with sand"? No sir, no one told me. Well, it would have been nice if they offered to move us to the other course but didn't. There was no one on the course so that allowed us to play as we want. The course is not hard and several ground under repair areas are being worked on. Had I been with a group, not happy at all. Father proud of a son starting to play equals a good day.

Booked online, within 10 minutes I got a call letting me know the greens were punched and sanded. Gave me a heavy discount and I will say for sanded greens, the rolled fairly pure. Also, they were out of logo balls and the staffer told me he’d ship me a ball no charge even after I offered to pay for shipping. This place is the cream of the crop all around!

Fairways and greens in good condition. Most holes have somewhat generous landing areas. Difficult but fair. Played at noon with no backups.

First time played. Was a little concerned reading some reviews, but my wife and I were very happy with our round. We had a 3 pm tee time and were done in 3 hours! A threesome ahead politely let us play through and we never saw anyone else ahead. Fairways were fine and the greens in good condition. Maybe a little slow but it was late in the day so maybe a bit of grain and growth. Tee boxes were ‘ok’ - otherwise I would rate conditions a 5. Good range at fair prices for balls. Very nice short practice area - a big plus. Nice carts and smooth paths. Friendly and helpful staff. At $65 per person, which included a good hot dog and a beer, how can I complain. The ‘member’ combo tees were great for us senior players. Playing again Thursday = want revenge against the unknown.

Greens are great condition as well as the rest of the course

First time playing at a high end course. Everyone was very helpful and welcoming. I’m a new golfer and this course was challenging. I plan to golf here again next year. On a side note, I was totally freaked out by the gator in the water. BUT, it was cool.
