About

Holes 18
Type Resort
Par 72
Length 6543 yards
Slope 137
Rating 71.9

The Barony Course at Port Royal Golf Club constitutes 18 of this well-known island facility's 54 holes.

Playing to just 6,543 yards from the gold tees, Barony is a very enjoyable course for all skill levels. The back nine in particular is a fine mix of long and short holes. Like its sister courses at Port Royal, Barony begins and ends at the club's beautiful Antebellum-style clubhouse.

From the tee, many of the holes on Barony appear to be relatively open. But as you approach the green the real challenge of the course becomes clear. The greens are small and protected by deep bunkers and Bermuda rough, demanding an excellent touch with the medium and short irons. This is a course where accuracy, not length is the key factor.

Lovely Day

My husband and I thoroughly loved our round. A beautiful club with great staff. Friendly, from pro shop to cafe’ to starter and staff along the way.

Course is challenging, but staff disrespectful

Played the Barony course this week. The golf course itself was beautiful and challenging. I was disappointed by the staff here, however. I was a single paired with an elderly couple. We kept right with the pace of the course and still ended up having to wait on each tee for the foursome ahead of us. Halfway through our round, a staffmember asked us if the couple behind us could play through as we “were a slow threesome”. I tried to explain that we were keeping fine pace and that we also had to wait on every hole, and yet he still pushed for the twosome behind us to play through. We let them, and sure enough they ended up waiting at every single tee right ahead of us. I completely understand if we truly were slow, but the staff member knew the course was backed up and still made us feel inadequate and catered to the couple behind “because they had dinner reservations”. Disrespectful actions, in my opinion. Also, no beverage cart service for the entire 18 holes despite them telling us they’d have one out. Won’t be back.

Fun course, very slow

Course was fun. A bit disappointed by some of the grooming aspects (LOTS of sand / sandy grass between bunkers) - somewhat sloppy upkeep for a $130 round. Round also took over 5 hours.

Course layout was fun and practice facilities were awesome.

Disappointed

Greens and fairways all beat up fairways hardest cement cigarette butts all over the grains very disappointed thought pain for one of the more expensive courses would get me something in much better condition than what we played.

Not right now.

Every course on HH is way more expensive than in used to be, so in that respect Port Royal Baroney is no exception. But $165 for this track, in these conditions, that’s ludicrous. Fairways were in subpar muni conditions, at best. Can they charge that much and get it? Sure. Should they, no way.

Dry!

The fairways were hard, there wasn’t nice green plush grass. The rough wasn’t grass rough but dirt rough. Coming from the north I was excited to plan on grass and this didn’t satisfy me

fairways hard

Fairways were like cement. Greens great. Course overall very good,. But for premium price, I expected fairways to be better than my home course which costs one third as much.

Barony 3/28

Fairways not in good shape but not sure if that was due to it still being early spring. Greens however were in good shape.

Pace of play was awful - 4 hrs 35 min.

Novice golfers held things up.
