The Barony Course at Port Royal Golf Club constitutes 18 of this well-known island facility's 54 holes.

Playing to just 6,543 yards from the gold tees, Barony is a very enjoyable course for all skill levels. The back nine in particular is a fine mix of long and short holes. Like its sister courses at Port Royal, Barony begins and ends at the club's beautiful Antebellum-style clubhouse.

From the tee, many of the holes on Barony appear to be relatively open. But as you approach the green the real challenge of the course becomes clear. The greens are small and protected by deep bunkers and Bermuda rough, demanding an excellent touch with the medium and short irons. This is a course where accuracy, not length is the key factor.

Nice course and layout. Greens in good condition. It is obvious the course is being worked on with patching of sod. Areas around greens and green side bunkers need a bit of work. Would have been nice if it was over seeded in the Fall

First time on HHI

I played three different courses while on HHI for the first time. The Barnoy course at Port Royal was my favorite. It’s open fairways and spacious greens was nice to play. Plus the green fees was nicely priced compared to other courses in the area. I will hope to play the other course at Port Royal next year.

Rough track for the money

I was pretty surprised by what we got for $95 in December. The turf conditions were average at best, bunkers not attended to. Generally, the course is very flat without much to catch the eye or deceive you. Wouldn’t return for that price.
