The Barony Course at Port Royal Golf Club constitutes 18 of this well-known island facility's 54 holes.
Playing to just 6,543 yards from the gold tees, Barony is a very enjoyable course for all skill levels. The back nine in particular is a fine mix of long and short holes. Like its sister courses at Port Royal, Barony begins and ends at the club's beautiful Antebellum-style clubhouse.
From the tee, many of the holes on Barony appear to be relatively open. But as you approach the green the real challenge of the course becomes clear. The greens are small and protected by deep bunkers and Bermuda rough, demanding an excellent touch with the medium and short irons. This is a course where accuracy, not length is the key factor.

Horrible management
We had a 1:00 tee time, got there at 12:20 to hit balls, and they said there was a 30 min wait because they had all the karts in use already, said they got busy. They let the locals come in and jump tee times over people who had a tee time reserved. Finally got out at 1:40. Course was alright, greens were about 4 days since last cutting. Only got through 17 holes. It might’ve been a one time thing, but out of the other courses here, there’s no chance I take that risk again.
A Christmas Eve on the Barony golf course
The golf was well maintained and really nice to play. Lost few balls in the water.
Will come back.
Great layout, fair but challenging
Very much enjoyed playing there. Very scenic. Layout had some great par 3s.
Lady friendly
Played in december. Course in great shape. Not much carry over hazards for ladies. Loved it. Will play again.
Great course, friendly staff
We had a blast playing this course; well kept, good condition, and excellent greens. The staff was extremely polite & friendly!
Great course but so SLOW!
The course was in great shape. I'm an average golfer and the course did not seem too difficult. Most fairways were very forgiving. There were a lot of sand traps but they weren't difficult to play out of. Staff was extremely nice. Only drawback was the pace of play. There were four groups on almost every hole; we waited five to ten minutes on nearly every shot. I realize they were trying to get everyone in before dark, but the should have limited and spread out the tee times more. I would definitely come back but it was very difficult to get into a good rhythm.
Excellent Customer Service all around!
The course was in great condition. Speed of play was very relaxing! The staff in pro shop and golf assistants were extremely helpful and courteous!! Will definitely play here again soon.
