Golden Bear Golf Club at Indigo Run

The layout of this course is good. Challenging tee shots due to the overhanging trees, bunkers and water.

The condition of the course was not what I expected. The first fairway had been skinned (grass removed, just dirt) about 90 - 130 yards from the green. The tee boxes are not consistent with some just having more dirt than grass. The bunkers were not treated and were "thin" with the lack of sand being the issue.

I was looking forward to playing this course. However, it was not as nice as I expected! Fairways were full of mowed grass and finding your ball was frustrating. Save your money and try another course!

My experience of the course was somewhat hampered by weather. After 30 minutes of rain, the cart paths were flooded with water and the fairways were quite soggy. I was only able to play nine holes because of this. Besides the weather, the course looked great. I’m not changing my rating because of the weather. Weather is something no one has control of. I would definitely play this course again. Hoping next time the weather is more forgiving.

My main memory from the golf itself is that of two tee boxes that were in poor condition.

To be fair, this was my first time playing in Hilton Head, and July may not be the best time of year, but of the four courses I played in the area, this one was in the worst shape.

That’s not to say it was a dog track. The course would be one I’d recommend if it was the only one around, but when stacked up against all the competition on and near the island, you can find better places to spend your money elsewhere.

A couple rough tee boxes. No on course beverage service. No GPS in cart. Pro shop nothing special. Driving range not included. No locker room. For the price there’s better.

My daughter and I had a great time.playing the course..we couldn't make our original tee time and they helped us reschedule so we could still play!!!

Played this on vacation. Loved the layout of the course but the conditions could have been better. Greens and fairways had been ariated. Putting and fairway shots were much more challenging than they should have been. Somehow still played my best round of the year though. Staff was very nice. Got to spend an hour in the clubhouse with them thanks to a monsoon. Played Atlantic Dunes the next day which had their greens ariated also but those greens putted pure. Maybe their greenskeeper could give you some tips on keeping the greens so nice. All in all a great experience and I would go back.

We always enjoy going to Golden Bear and try to play it every time we are on the island. It is a stern test from the tips yet very playable for my wife from the forward tees. Course is always in excellent condition. Highly recommend.

My son and I are just getting back into golf. From the moment we arrived the staff, starters and club house attendant were great! Love the course and it played well even after some weather related damage. Would go back without question.

Staff was great. Course was in good condition with a few fairways that had some rough spots. Greens were aerated a few weeks before we played, but they were pretty true. It’s a great local deal. One of the better courses for the money.

Neat layout, good greens, and overall a fun course. Some areas needed some TLC but overall not bad for the price. Will definitely play again!

I like the tightness of the course. The tee boxes and fairways were not in great condition. Not worth the price we paid this round. I play this course every time I visit Hilton Head Island.

Staff was awesome! Bag drop, pro shop and grill representatives very cheerful and glad you came to play here. The grill / turn was quick and also making good suggestions.

The course is a beautiful Live Oak lined generous fairways with enough trouble to keep you on your toes. For me, this course is on par with the Robert Trent Jones Trail in AL if you are familiar with those. These greens had been punched a month ago and they were near perfect. Fairways and tee boxes conditions very good with a some thin areas but not detrimental to playing.

I would suggest this course to any one for an enjoyable round.
