About
Oyster Reef features elevated tees and lush fairways lined by thick stands of live oak and pine. Numerous doglegs accented by strategically located mounds and fairway bunkers, call for well-planned tee shots. Varying sizes of greens with well-defined tiers place a premium on precise approach shots.
The par-3 sixth hole, which plays 192 yards from the back tees to a green set against a backdrop of Port Royal Sound, is one of the most visually spectacular holes on Hilton Head. Oyster Reef is now a semi-private member-owned club with a limited number of tee times for guest play,
The carefully-maintained facility, designed by noted course architect Rees Jones, continues to be a favorite destination for serious golfers as well as a favorite with locals.

Staff friendliness
Cart guys are very friendly and helpful loading &unloafing bags… starter is informative and friendly too. We had the BEST Bloody Mary from a wonderful cart girl - very positive experience. Will visit this course again!
Cart Lady
The course cart lady Cindy, is awesome. She is very friendly and professional, also she makes a GREAT Bloody Mary.
First group to go off.
Course was in great shape.
A little disappointing.
Ranged closed, no starter, singles let out one after the other, pro shop closed at 6, and the restaurant manager was rude.
Awesome course for the money
Soft well maintained bunkers, medium cut rough, and beautiful fairways made this course an excellent track. Greens were a little slower but a true consistent roll. Definitely would play it again. Balls ready to go on the range was a great addition to the experience. Course is in great shape; definitely recommend playing here!
Wonderful round with College Friend and our Biys
The staff was great and the location was convenient. The course was challenging and in great condition other than 1 hole who’s green is under construction. We were told of this going into the round. Bring your own towels if you need them. It was really hot and humid and unlike a course we played in Palmetto Dunes the day before, Oyster Reef had no towels to take on the course. The Starter offered us a clean towel he had - thus my rating of great staff service. The driving range balls came with the round too! The group in front of us was a little slow and dropped multiple balls to play slowing us down. The boys loved it and we would come back
Typical beach course
The course lay out was great. Tee boxes a wee bit shaggy, greens good except temp green on 18. I enjoyed the course. I play a lot of different courses. I definitely enjoyed hole six. Overall great course. Range balls included was a bonus. Aside from the golf, we saw the beverage cart 1 time in 18 holes on a very hot day. That was the worst part. Again over all good course in great shape. Kudos to the maintenance staff and the pro shop staff were incredible. Thank you
