Oyster Reef features elevated tees and lush fairways lined by thick stands of live oak and pine. Numerous doglegs accented by strategically located mounds and fairway bunkers, call for well-planned tee shots. Varying sizes of greens with well-defined tiers place a premium on precise approach shots.

The par-3 sixth hole, which plays 192 yards from the back tees to a green set against a backdrop of Port Royal Sound, is one of the most visually spectacular holes on Hilton Head. Oyster Reef is now a semi-private member-owned club with a limited number of tee times for guest play,

The carefully-maintained facility, designed by noted course architect Rees Jones, continues to be a favorite destination for serious golfers as well as a favorite with locals.

Nice course! Try it!

My friend and I played here for the first time today. Cold and rainy but the course was in great shape. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Had a really good turkey sandwich from the food cart! Greens were in nice shape. Very few water hazards but lots of sand bunkers. We had a wonderful 18 hole round and would recommend playing

Oyster Reef in May

Loved the layout and the pace of play was very good. The fairways were in excellent condition, some of the greens were thin and several had large patches of new turf. The course was very good, but not worth the price being charged, especially for a hot deal.

Solid Round

Was a bit slow on the back because of a bachelor party and some greens were under repair but the fairways were in great shape and the course layout was pretty tough but scoreable if you keep in straight.

Beautiful Course but too expensive

It is a beautiful course, not in fantastic shape, not difficult, extremely friendly and helpful people working there… But, way too expensive for what you get.

Customer Service

Tee time booked a week in advance with no notice a tournament preceded our tee time. Forced to quit after 12 holes due to unacceptable slow play. No cart attendants before or after play Course condition average at best, with a number of greens in poor condition. Hot dog and home made potato chips were the high point of this golf experience.

Disappointed

I had been told that Oyster Reef was in good condition but I was very disappointed with the condition. There was many spots that were GUR and many more that should have been. Definitely not worth the money.

Great golf and friendly staff!

Only complaint was not being able to figure yardages on dog leg holes. Several times I drove through the dog leg and into trouble.

Oyster Reef golf

This course is very playable, but it does have a lot of bunkers. Some of those bunkers were too hard packed for a good sand shot. The fairways were pretty good, but at some points a little too tight. I also thought the greens did not hold well, even when I was hitting a 7 iron into the green it rolled through. The greens putted fairly well, but we’re not fast at all. There are several doglegs, so positioning is important off the tee.

8 guys golfing

Bag drop staff very attentive and fun.

Pro Shop staff - just ok - they are all about processing people thru.

Starters - frankly need to need to work on personality skills. We played Dolphin Head, Shipyard, Palmentto Hall, and Wexford and all the starters made us feel welcome. Probably he / they were having a bad day.

Great layout

Great layout, rarely used driver off the tee which was a good change of pace. Course conditions were not up to the price to play. Expected better for the price.
