Oyster Reef features elevated tees and lush fairways lined by thick stands of live oak and pine. Numerous doglegs accented by strategically located mounds and fairway bunkers, call for well-planned tee shots. Varying sizes of greens with well-defined tiers place a premium on precise approach shots.

The par-3 sixth hole, which plays 192 yards from the back tees to a green set against a backdrop of Port Royal Sound, is one of the most visually spectacular holes on Hilton Head. Oyster Reef is now a semi-private member-owned club with a limited number of tee times for guest play,

The carefully-maintained facility, designed by noted course architect Rees Jones, continues to be a favorite destination for serious golfers as well as a favorite with locals.

Course conditions not good

Can’t give any more than one star solely because the conditions were so bad. Combined with the high price, value is super low. Good shots rewarded with bad lies and lack of grass almost everywhere, especially near the greens. Greens were like a sheet of ice. What is going on with course maintenance there?

Bewate

Not worth the money. Day started with them telling us the range was closed. Fine I can deal with that. Course is need of some serious TLC! Much better courses to play in the area.

Disappointing conditions

We had some really good oysters in Hilton Head…..Oyster Reef not one of them! Greens and fairways in poor shape. Course was not terrible, just not as good as expected for the money. Probably better value on other courses on the island!

Don’t expect too much

Have played here several times in the past when visiting the area. It’s a nice course and challenging layout. This past week in an act of ultimate customer disservice, someone thought it would be a good idea to charge a $45 fee in order for boy with obvious mental and physical disabilities to ride along with his Dad who was playing the course. The boy is crippled, losing his eyesight and has real difficulty even speaking or communicating!

I guess in todays era of greed for the almighty dollar there’s just no room for compassion, kindness, or understanding of any kind. One of our group stepped in and paid your stupid fee so the boy could be with his Dad. You ought to be ashamed!

Round at Oyster Reef was OK

Very efficient pro shop, very nice how they take you straight to the range for a free bucket and putting green, starter keeps things right on schedule, the course is good length for various levels from tips to red tees, but the course conditions were very average, with a few greens needing repair, and lots of gators. Average value for money.

Too beat up

Tee boxes were bare no grass. Driving range grass was sub par to say the least. Grass around greens were bare not much grass pretty much sand. Not worth the price. Good club house.

Oyster Reef is a fair course that requires you to use your whole bag of clubs. Loved, loved Cyn, the cart lady too. She was so kind to our group and even drove back to the clubhouse to pick up some food for us that she didn’t carry on her cart. First class and just added to our experience.
