Oyster Reef Golf Course

Terrible course nowhere near worth the $170 round dead greens slow play horrible value go anywhere else.

Waste of money, $165 for 18. Rot on green of signature hole and half cut out. 9 was under repair and the clubshop boy didn’t say a word before paying.

This is the most I have ever paid for a round of golf in my life and the course was destroyed. Half of the greens were dead and or under repair. For $170 this should have been the most pristine course instead we got dead fairways and a fake green they put in the fairway. Save your money and play dolphin head.

The goofy pro shop guy tried to not give us our money back for 9 at the turn and said the course was in good shape.

Fairways and greens unfortunately in bad conditions. The course layout and staff are outstanding.

Course was enjoyable to play. Fairways were spotty. Greens were inconsistent. Cart lady needed to smile and say hello 😁.

Conditions not as good as in past. lot's of bare spots in Fairways. Greens were a bit inconsistent wrt speed.

This course once was a well.kept course but was horrible. I was embarrassed to.take my friends visiting us from California and Pennsylvania. We all wrote.to the pro and heritage golf collection but no response .

Do.not play this course and pay 150.00

Tee boxes and fairways needs some grass grown but greens are perfect

To say I was disappointed is an understatement when I golfed the Oyster Reef Course with friends yesterday. The condition of the front nine is horrendous. We golfed several other courses while in Hilton Head and while I’m aware of the challenges created by the winter, no other course was in the condition as yours. You should at least let golfers know when they check in at the pro shop of the course conditions so a reasonable decision can be made as to whether or not to pay the greens fee rate you are charging for the quality of the golfing experience. It was a total waste of my money to play your course and I will be sure to pass my disappointing experience along to others who may wish to play your course.

I played this course many times but I was so embarrassed when I took friends from California and pa to play. The front 9 was almost dirt and they charged 150.00 per person to play. I would take this golf course off your booking list

The course layout is great for a public facility

Greens were pretty good, two were rough but being worked on which is great. Practice range is a disgrace, thank god the balls were included. No grass in the hitting area?? Tees were ok, sand traps great and fairways a little thin but very playable

5 hour round behind a bachelor party, no ranger to play assist. Cart person said these type groups mess us the timing but the rangers are never there to monitor

Play early and I’m sure you will find a better pace of play

Remove this course from golf now. It was like playing on dirt.

I was embarrassed to take friends to this course. There was no grass and we paid 150 to play in a cow pasture. There was no mention when we booked about poor course condition. I have golfed here many time before and we should have our money refunded. We have a local home and this was the worst golf experience ever on Hilton Head. Drop them from your program.

They will tell you about a harsh winter and lack.of rain but my grass is fine at my home

Staff and amenities were great. Kevin, pro shop, deserves a significant atta-boy for welcoming attitude, helpful instruction on how to access the course and range. Greens were well kept but speed was inconsistent and the fairways need significant water and grass was very patchy in much of the fairways. Ricky was hustling and very attentive during our post-round dinner/cocktails.

We had a 436 T-Time. My husband and I can easily play in 4 hours. We made the turn at 630. Waited every hole on the front 9. After 9 holes the Ranger told us we wouldn't be able to finish the round and to have the carts back to the clubhouse by 8 pm. There were 5 groups ahead of us, each having 6 players. We passed them all as we headed back to the club house. They were all still playing. We were able to get 4 holes in when we hit the other groups. It's a nice course with a great restaurant. We visit Hilton Head at least twice a year. Not sure if we will go back.

Oyster is one of my favorite courses to play. I come here in late April and it's not really summer conditions just yet. All of the island is begging for rain. The course was dry and hard in the fairway, but the greens were in great condition. If you haven't played down here before, you have to remember that you're at sea level and the club you're used to using at 150 yards won't be enough. It pays to be smart out here. A bogey score on some holes is not necessarily a negative. Trying to be a hero will cost you strokes. Sand traps are plentiful and hitting out of them is like trying to hit your ball out of a bowl of sugar. If you can keep your ball in play off the tee and can make 10 foot putts, you will be happy with your score at the end of the day. A good short game pays big dividends out here.

I was very excited to play this course with many positive comments from friends. For the amount charged, I was very disappointed in the fairways, and their lack of grass .
