Length 7018 yards
Slope 137
Rating 74.7

Oyster Reef features elevated tees and lush fairways lined by thick stands of live oak and pine. Numerous doglegs accented by strategically located mounds and fairway bunkers, call for well-planned tee shots. Varying sizes of greens with well-defined tiers place a premium on precise approach shots.

The par-3 sixth hole, which plays 192 yards from the back tees to a green set against a backdrop of Port Royal Sound, is one of the most visually spectacular holes on Hilton Head. Oyster Reef is now a semi-private member-owned club with a limited number of tee times for guest play,

The carefully-maintained facility, designed by noted course architect Rees Jones, continues to be a favorite destination for serious golfers as well as a favorite with locals.

Oyster Reef - review

Nice course - a bit expensive but greens were great.

Beverage cart lady was Bar Far the best I have encountered in my decades of playing.

Drinks were great but she has a fantastic process (greets you takes your order and then preps drink for your purchase and enjoyment either at the next tee or will meet your group after you putt out.

She gets it and keeps the pace of play fantastic. Not 1 minute of delay for any group on the entire course today.

She was great and a fantastic asset for the course.

Friendly Staff

Everyone we had interactions with from the proshop to the grill were super friendly! The pace of play was good and the course overall was in good condition. Greens were slightly slower than I remember, but they had a hot summer so it was fine. I would definitely play here when visiting again.

Overpriced for current conditions

Second time playing this course, and the condition of the greens has deteriorated considerably since last spring. At least 5 greens had bad spots that were heavily sanded and still recovering. The 9th green was completely unusable and had several square feet of fresh sod. NONE of this was mentioned at check it, and they charged the full rack rate of $130. I've played $50 public tracks with better greens. Cart guys at bag drop even bragged about what great condition the course was in. What an overpriced joke! Very disappointing!

Oyster Reef review

The course was in good shape and the staff was very friendly. Layout? Lots of sand and lots of doglegs. The pine straw along the edges of the rough kept your ball from getting lost but was very tough to hit out of.

NEGATIVE: We had decided to have lunch at their Tavern. I walked in and the host had his back to me. Said he would be right with me. Several minutes passed and I saw him talking with someone in the kitchen. Finally a waiter came up and I told him we would like a table. He seated us and that was the last we saw of him. After 15 minutes, we didn’t even have a glass of water. Btw, there were only 5 tables occupied. We left through the pro shop and they were surprised to see us. I explained why. They apologized but no effort was made to correct the situation. Enjoy the course but find a better place to eat.

I keep coming back whenever I'm in HHI

Oyster Reef is quite possibly the most consistently well-kept course on the Island! I've been playing there for about 20 years and it never disappoints...this includes the course as well as the staff!
