About
A Pete Dye redesign of a George Cobb and Willard Byrd original design helped take the Robber's Row Course at Port Royal Golf Club toward the head of the pack on Hilton Head. Dye added or redesigned 43 bunkers on the front nine, changing par from 35 to 36 and did some shortening on the back nine to change par from 37 to 36.
The golf course plays little more than 6,000 yards, with a somewhat-friendly 124 slope rating from the tips. Players will have to do some work on their approach shots, as the Cobb/Dye design keeps its greens well protected with bunkers.
The golf course is a scenic delight, however, and in a nice move, you get history lessons at the tee boxes to help let you know the past of the area you are playing, which was once an important location in the Civil War.

Fun course
The course was in good condition considering the time of year. The greens were rolling very nicely. It was a fun course to play. The course was challenging , but not overly difficult. Everyone was very friendly and helpful.
Walk 3 miles in my shoes!
Fog was thick during the entire round. Due to wet conditions, and cart path only, was forced to walk three miles according to my steps app.
Rainy day fu
Not a great weather day but still a lot of fun. Coutse id in reasonably good shape for February. The layout is fun and scenic.
Staff inside and outside was extremely kind and friendly. Two weeks in a row have been able to play under 3 hours 20 minutes. All in all a great day
Robbers Row well bunkered
Course was in excellent "winter" condition. Greens are challenging and well bunkered. Would not walk this layout as many holes are a god distance from each other.
Great course
We go to Hilton Head every year. Robbers Row is always on our list of courses. The layout is great. It is a good challenge for any golfer.
Members get priority...
Great round, well maintained course with wonderful greens. Extremely welcoming staff.
Only issue was a foursome inserted themselves in front of us starting on first tee. We waited on every hole but still managed to finish just under 4hr 15m. Marshall stated they were members, could do what they wanted and he had no ability to stop them. That was a little annoying, but still an enjoyable day on a nice course.
Haven’t been in a while, but great to come back. Very good value with the on-line rate. Afternoon round with no one after us. A real pleasure to enjoy the course plus hear the ocean on a couple of holes.
It was overbooked. Had to wait an hour or walk. No carts became available and Proshop wouldn’t answer phone.
