Robber's Row at Port Royal Golf Club
About
A Pete Dye redesign of a George Cobb and Willard Byrd original design helped take the Robber's Row Course at Port Royal Golf Club toward the head of the pack on Hilton Head. Dye added or redesigned 43 bunkers on the front nine, changing par from 35 to 36 and did some shortening on the back nine to change par from 37 to 36.
The golf course plays little more than 6,000 yards, with a somewhat-friendly 124 slope rating from the tips. Players will have to do some work on their approach shots, as the Cobb/Dye design keeps its greens well protected with bunkers.
The golf course is a scenic delight, however, and in a nice move, you get history lessons at the tee boxes to help let you know the past of the area you are playing, which was once an important location in the Civil War.

So slow
5+ hours for a 3 some teeing off at 1 to finish. Course layout was fun. Greens were in great shape, rough was non existent because it was all dead
Greens in excellent condition for this time of year.. Staff very friendly, helpful, accommodating and professional.
John
The conditions were terrible. I played another course nearby for the same money and it was much better. The fairways are not over seeded so it’s almost like playing on dirt. The tees are in bad shape and the greens are fair. I will not come back.
John,
Thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry your experience was positive. Dormant fairways do provide more challenging conditions at times. We are constantly working on improving our courses and we hope that you'll come back when the fairways green-up in April.
Thanks again,
Jay Rusch, PGA

John,
Good morning! Sorry you didn't enjoy your experience at Port Royal. Even though our greens and tees are over-seeded, I do understand your frustrations in regards to the fairways. I would like to invite you back when our fairways green-up in early spring.
Your feedback is appreciated,
Jay Rusch, PGA

Disappointing
We had a tee time for Robert's Row but was moved to Barony. We have play Barony before and was looking forward to playing Robert's Row.
Thank you for your feedback. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed our courses. They are fun and challenging. In addition, we are adding staffing during busier days to ensure a positive member and guest experience.
Thanks again,
Jay Rusch, PGA
