Robert Cupp at Palmetto Hall Plantation
About
While Hilton Head is chock full of courses designed by some of the greatest names in golf, just one of them was designed with a computer to give it lines straighter than an arrow throughout.
The Robert Cupp Course at Palmetto Hall can be one of the most interesting and eclectic courses you'll play, as well as possibly one of the toughest. From the back tees the course plays to 7,079, with a slope rating of 144.
Named as Golf World's top designer in 1992, Cupp created a course that is visually challenging as well as challenging to play. With sand traps looking as if they were drawn in by, well, a computer, this is a course you'll tell your friends about, though you may not tell them your score.

Worth the trip
Nice course to play in Hilton Head. Will play again - for sure.
8 handicaps lunch handed to him
Wow. What a beast. Played from 6500 yards seemed like 7500. Tough long and greens large and undulating. Shot makers coarse. Bring your “A” game for this track. Enjoyed the challenge
Great value
A great deal on Golf Now and a recommendation from a friend prompted me to play this course. Great layout with mostly wide fairways and a few very challenging holes with water in front or around the green. Some large undulating greens which were a little slow due to heavy rain the previous few days.Played from the white tees which were perfect for a 16 handicap senior. Course was very wet and cart path only which made for a bit longer round. Overall a very enjoyable round and would most certainly recommend.
Enjoyable round
In theory, it was suppose to rain most of the afternoon, but it didn't. Others may have chosen not to play, but it was really quite nice. We only saw one other person on our round, so the pace of play was great. It was a little wet which meant cart path only. Cupp is not an easy course to play, so I would not recommend it to handicaps higher than 15 or so. Some nice challenges in playing this course.
Difficult layout
Early morning round with time on the well set up range and a separate chipping and putting area. Lots of water and well groomed bunkers with coarse sand. Will come back for sure.
Enjoyable round!
Very nice course, challenging! Difficult pin placement today.
Good value..I would recommend this course.
love the challenge
Played this course a few times now and really like it. Rained out with 4 holes to go made me sad. had a good round going.
Golfnow bargain
Very nice layout. Greens fairly flat and slow. Lots of water in play off the tees. Bunkers all recently groomed. Very nice practice area though the practice putting green was unavailable.
Nice course
Good value. Good layout. Course in good condition except for 3 greens on back nine. Worth playing.
Tough Course
Very demanding course. Must hit accurate shots to score well. Greens on back 9 are much more difficult than front 9. Last par 3 on back 9 is one of the tougher holes you will ever play. Enjoyable course from start to finish.
Happy Guy
Played it on a very cold.day. good round, fast, course virtually empty. Hope to play on a warmer day.
Nice day
Ist time out. Great challenging course. Very fair and well manicured. Very slopey greens. Some greens were thin on grass and a little bumpy. Lots of water.
Great golf course
This is a great course and a great layout. The fairways could have been a little thicker. The greens were excellent.
Playable
Course was not over seeded. Turf was dormant but ok. Greens were in good shape and a consistent speed. Very enjoyable.
