Robert Cupp at Palmetto Hall Plantation
About
While Hilton Head is chock full of courses designed by some of the greatest names in golf, just one of them was designed with a computer to give it lines straighter than an arrow throughout.
The Robert Cupp Course at Palmetto Hall can be one of the most interesting and eclectic courses you'll play, as well as possibly one of the toughest. From the back tees the course plays to 7,079, with a slope rating of 144.
Named as Golf World's top designer in 1992, Cupp created a course that is visually challenging as well as challenging to play. With sand traps looking as if they were drawn in by, well, a computer, this is a course you'll tell your friends about, though you may not tell them your score.

Love the course, but.....
Great layout, but still spring like conditions. Greens were slow and 3 greens had damage and were being repaired. Nonetheless, I always like the course and it was good value,
tricky
Course was in reasonable condition. a Few varied pace greens. You have to be straight or be punished!
pace of play was slow as we believe a singleton pushed in. Worse still was a 5 ball in front of him.
We finished on the 14th as thunderstorms arrived
Nice Courae
First ones off at 7:15. Some challenging pin positions. Over all course was in good shape; a couple of greens had some bare spots. Cart paths in rough shape. But tee to green is great shape. Bunkers good too... a least the 2 i hit into. Good 5 tee options.
Nice round
The course was very busy when we played. Some tees and fairway conditions weren't in great shape, but we still enjoyed the round.
Overall great course
Great course...just a few of the greens need some work...everything else was good and staff is very nice.
Sanded greens ! Big patches of fungus covered by sand
Wish I could have played it without the greens issue! Other than that, course was great layout. Shot making was at a premium on some holes, but not so much that it was frustrating!
Palmetto Hall
Great course with the great value really enjoyed the day and we wouldn’t go back and recommend it to friends and family
Beautiful day
The course is very nice. The greens were horrible on several holes, maybe four in total. Otherwise a very tough course and beautiful layout with challenging shots.
Course offers value for money. Greens in good shape but slow. Two recommendations- put sand in the bunkers, take care of slow play.
Horrible conditions
There was very little
Grass on the fairways. Our cart ran out of gas 1/2 thru the round.
Beautiful and friendly!
Arrived right on time as went to another Palmetto but staff were understanding and got us out quickly. Marshall was very informative about the course. The only thing was that we were pushed by the group of “young men” behind us and were told by the Marshall that someone had complained. It rained quite heavily which slowed us down a bit but still finished at 4 hours and 15 minutes. So gave pace of play a 4 as we felt rushed...not that good for enjoyment of the game!
Palmetto Hall Cupp course
Great course, challenging, lot of fun, really enjoyed it
Worth a discount
Worth a discounted play. Staff outside was a bit disorganized. Range was full before my round. Practice putting green was rushed at the first tee.
Maybe just understaffed that day.
Starter has an amazing personality. Friendly and amusing.
Paired with exceptionally nice golfers.
The pace was perfect for our foursome.
