While Hilton Head is chock full of courses designed by some of the greatest names in golf, just one of them was designed with a computer to give it lines straighter than an arrow throughout.
The Robert Cupp Course at Palmetto Hall can be one of the most interesting and eclectic courses you'll play, as well as possibly one of the toughest. From the back tees the course plays to 7,079, with a slope rating of 144.
Named as Golf World's top designer in 1992, Cupp created a course that is visually challenging as well as challenging to play. With sand traps looking as if they were drawn in by, well, a computer, this is a course you'll tell your friends about, though you may not tell them your score.

It is a very fair course
I like this course im a 20 handicap and am able to play bougy golf on it
Peale I play with are 10 handicap and still enjoy it

good course for average golfer
Booked as a single and was paired up with two other golfers. Pace of play was good and the course was in reasonably good condition for the time of year. Course has easy and challenging holes.
Overall poor experience
The course layout is good. The tees and more important the greens are a mess. Cart paths are terrible and in places unusable. Members seem to have the right of way. No etiquette, slow, playing several balls, no consideration for people playing behind them. Walked off after 13. Not going back. Lots of other great courses in the area.
Pre-season conditions
Fairways were average for this time of year, greens were quite variable
worth a visit
Played an afternoon round by myself in under three hours. Good variety of holes and tricky greens with lots of slope. A good challenge.
Wet weather
We experienced rain for the first few wholes.On the 4th hole someone came out to tell it would be cart path only due to the rain. We asked for towels given the weather and was told they had new carts and must not have put the towels in.. We asked to send towels out and got no response. When we finished our round ( it did stop raining) and the conditions were fine. When we came back to the cart drop , we again asked the attendant about towels, and were told they don't alway put in carts, you have to ask.
The range balls for quests were in terrible shape --- assume the members got better ones.
A facitily of the caliber should do better
Nice course
A great and interesting design with many memorable holes. Slightly long for us older mortals. Could use some shorter forward tees. Definitely a fun adventure.

Always love playing this course. Great layout and difficult greens. Even at 46 degrees it was a pleasure! I'll be back!

This course was in fair shape and staff was nice . Was one of the few played this week that was dry. Greens and lay out a good Challenge
