Rating 75.2

While Hilton Head is chock full of courses designed by some of the greatest names in golf, just one of them was designed with a computer to give it lines straighter than an arrow throughout.

The Robert Cupp Course at Palmetto Hall can be one of the most interesting and eclectic courses you'll play, as well as possibly one of the toughest. From the back tees the course plays to 7,079, with a slope rating of 144.

Named as Golf World's top designer in 1992, Cupp created a course that is visually challenging as well as challenging to play. With sand traps looking as if they were drawn in by, well, a computer, this is a course you'll tell your friends about, though you may not tell them your score.

What a challenging course

If you are looking for a great challenge you will find it there. We were advised that the greens were real fast and that we should get a feel for it before taking off. This was a real good advice. Layout is very nice and challenging. Although they advertise red tees for women, there is no such thing which makes it very difficult for the average woman golfer. Watch-out for hole 18 if they position the pin in the back...

Ranger?

Pace of play has been a real issue as we have played Cupp twice now on vacation.

Waited 20 minutes on one hole as someone was giving a less to the foursome ahead of us.

Need some signs!

Course was fine but many times a directional sign on the cart path would have been a great help!

Very Playable

Wide, generous fairways, minimal water coming into play, with bail out often available vs. sand/water hazards. Greens were fast snd tricky with green side rough making short sided shots difficult.

Course was in good shape overall. Rough short enough to be able to easily find the ball.

Overall enjoyed the course and would play again.

Good course

Wasn’t crowded and a good course to play. only problem was that the greens have been aerated about a week or so ago and we’re still rough, but rolled fairly true and we had a great time.

1st Class Course and Conditions

Very well maintained course. I played on a Wednesday so the pace of play was excellent. Greens and fairways were in excellent condition. Some of the holes were difficult for my skill level, but a scratch golfer would enjoy the challenge. I would play this course again.

GolfNow triple charged me

The greens were recently punched. They were charging much less than the HOT DEAL.

The manager was nice and send to other golf course as courtesy. I was advised to talk to GolfNow about my charges.

Again I heard from other players to not use GolfNow to book tee time in Hilton Head area.

Excellent Course in Excellent Shape

This course is in very good condition, fairways and greens. Currently the greens have been recently aerated and sanded, but that doesn’t effect your putting. There are a few holes that are challenging for a mediocre golfer like myself, but overall excellent course for all skill levels. I would play this course again!

Aerated

The pace was fast since I was basically the only person on the course until some mysterious person showed up around hole 13-14 and then I felt like I had to fly through the last 4-5 holes. Didn't appreciate that since it only took 2.5 hours to play 18 holes, so it wasn't due to short play.

The only comment I didn't like was someone working on the course on hole 2 came up and said are you playing par golf. I joking said, of course, and he said "I feel like Pinocchio every time I ask that question." Not sure what that meant but I still shot in the 80's for the first time playing there.

There was no ranger or starter because it was late afternoon. They did aerate, so the greens weren't great, but I did like the layout of the course.

Great Day

Great golf course. Will definitely play again. Some confusion on rates between GolfNow and the golf course but the Pro has been great helping to resolve.

Play Arthur instead

I booked this course bc I wanted the first tee time and it was the only course that had it available. So I flew around which was great. I’m a 13 hcp so I’m not exactly Mr consistent.

Too tight off the tee. Lot of quirkiness to it.

No GPS in carts. Map of course on scorecard is a joke.

New electric carts and no gps? It’s 2023.

I’m told the Arthur hills course is more forgiving off the tee.

Beautiful conditions tho. Greens were better and faster than Hilton head national that I played a few days ago
