Royal St. Augustine Golf and Country Club

Second time playing this course and it was honestly not fun at all. Everywhere has bugs, but the amount of nats and flies on the course make it impossible to even swing (they do sell bug spray, for 12$ that doesn’t work at all). Then it started storming around 7pm, went to the clubhouse to ask about a raincheck and they had just left for the night. Maybe worth 20 a person, but certainly not what they are charging.

It is definitely a hard course and lost a lot of balls. But I liked the challenge. I feel as though it is not a well maintained course and many greens were in bad shape. The cost is comparable to well kept courses so maybe they should lower their prices if they are not going to maintain them

The course layout itself was interesting. Pretty challenging and fun. But the greens were so bad it ruined my game. There’s sand all over them which makes it almost impossible to get a read. Would not play this course again.

I played this course while on vacation and the course was in terrible condition. All tee boxes had sand all over them and weeds all over the fairways. One of the holes u have to hit a 9 iron/PW in order to layup and not hit a house to get to the hole, layout was just weird. Greens were even worse. Patches all over the place and weeds or sand patches all over the place. Staff was amazing, but course conditions were one of the worst I’ve seen.

I wouldn’t pay $10 to play here. The greens are dusty. The fairways look better than the greens. I didn’t play 1 good green. I read the reviews before I played and i thought it could be that bad. I was wrong. If it had negative stars I would put them

Tee boxes n fairways were nice, the greens however need work. The greens look like Afghanistan on one side n shaggy on other. But for 25 on a Sunday with people letting us rip thru guess it's hard to heat

So this course is definitely a work in progress. You can tell they are trying to fix it and therefore the price makes sense. Once they are able to get it in shape the only issue I think it has is its extremely unique layout. It bobs a weaves through the neighborhood a lot and if you’ve never played it before it is very easy to get lost. They didnt have a ranger or a cart girl out which I thought was strange for a Sunday round of golf. The cart girl eventually went out while we were on the 18th green which was just before noon so that was disappointing.

Can you tell that some time long ago it was a great course challenging layout, but that was then. Unfortunately today it’s on its way out.

It was good, a lot of mounds. For a first timer. directions for hole #7 should be clearer, go to the end of the cup de sac. While hole #14 is “hey, go over here” and not at the end of the full de sac. Both arrows pointing to the left. It was a difficult course for beginners like me. Players are always nice and respectful. I will play this course again. Except for a couple of treated greens, overall, it was a nice experience for me.

Some of the reviews in recent months were fair. Some of them were not. The conditions have declined in the last year. I've played here many times over the last few years. Historically it's always been in good condition. I talked to a member who explained they just brought in a new superintendent two weeks ago and things are really starting to turn around already. I thought there were a lot of good things. The majority of the greens are in great shape. The 5th and 6th greens are really the only ones with issues and they're starting to come back. The fairways and tees are also in good shape with the exception of a couple tees. The current rates are more than fair for what you get. Very friendly staff, newer carts, nice clubhouse with full bar and grill. I would recommend this course.

First off, the staff was friendly and not pretentious. Interesting course layout that sprawls through a housing community. Lots of interesting views. Course not in good shape. Note this is a narrow course with tree lines and water lining most fairways. Good place to work on course strategy.
