Royal St. Augustine Golf and Country Club
About
Located in Florida’s oldest city, Royal St. Augustine Golf & Country Club offers a glimpse of the area’s lush foliage and native marshlands. The course has a visually interesting layout with elevated, sprawling greens and a variety of bunker shapes and sizes. The moguled fairways and sandy waste areas are two other distinguishing features of the course. It is a tight course with large greens and gentle undulations. The layout provides a “target-golf” experience that puts a premium on accuracy and distance control. The numerous bends in the course in combination with the blustery winds also makes proper club selection very important.

Challenging
This was a tight course which made it a challenge if your tee shot was off even a little bit. The only real issue was that most greens had some problems, and were in repair, or had patches of sand. Some tee boxes were almost non-existent and needed some seeding badly, but you were teed up so didn't matter as much.
To many greens down, flags in fairwas first 5 holes.
Greens unplayable
There were 4 or 5 greens not playable and a circle was painted 20 yards closer with a hole cut in. If I had known I would not have played there.
06/28/25- Do not waste your time or money playing this course. Six of the greens are out of commission. Another five are borderline unplayable. There’s a few nice holes sprinkled in, but overall not worth your time. Hopefully it’ll come around next spring, truly a bummer !
Neat layout close to St. Augustine but under green repair
I’d imagine this course was at once very nice and in great conditions. The layout was fun and for the price, it’s a great affordable option to get out there or hit the clubs around St. Augustine. FYI: they were repairing 6-7 greens and had the flag at the end of the fairway on the first few holes and #14. It appears they’re struggling to keep good grass growing and keep weeds out of the greens and tee boxes. Good bit of dead spots on greens and sandy tee boxes. Most fairways were in decent shape. Hopefully once these renovations are complete the course will really turn around!
Horrible
8 temporary greens, Golf Now price was $10 more than booking direct with course.
This course is in bad condition, would not recommend it. $25 would be to much.
Waste of time and money
Most greens were unusable, some having temporary, shoddy mock greens. Tee boxes are mostly sand and terrible. Sand traps were packed like rock. If you want to just practice shots , it might be worth it to you, but if you are a serious good golfer you will be so frustrated at condition of this course. Don’t know how they stay in business. Sad
Rough shape
The course looked to be taking a hit from all the deportations.... No one to properly maintain the grass
Needs work but looks like their trying
Course was in rough shape. There were four or five temporary greens.. Difficult to navigate course. Need better signage. Course weaves through neighborhoods.. Looks like they're trying to work on on.the course. Several crews working. Some greens are pretty rough. Starter just kind of let whoever was ready go which bunched up golfers and caused a wait and backup. Super nice staff though. Driving range was closed which was a bummer. Like to play it when it's in better shape..
Disappointed
Went to play onMother’s Day. I had played this course many times before because it is difficult and I enjoyed the challenge. I called to make the tee time and I live about 30 miles away. I checked in and hit a few balls before I started. When I got to the first tee it wasn’t in the best shape but I teed off regardless, while waiting to hit my approach I visually realized that the green couldn’t be the yardage from my position on the course. Turns out that it was a temporary green and there were several on that nine. At the turn I went to the pro shop and spoke to the attendant and asked why didn’t she inform me about the course condition, her response was that there was a sign on the counter. This is the same person that I spoke with on the phone to make the tee time so I guess I was supposed to stay 30 miles away and see the sign. The back nine wasn’t in any better shape so I suggest that anyone who wants to play there ask about the course condition before you go. Terribly disappointed.
Not good….
We were warned about the green closures, but not about the extremely poor course conditions. It is a shame because there is so much potential.
Course wasn’t in good shape
From temporary greens in fairway, greens half dead, to fairways patchy and hitting off hardened rough patches, to no cart paths down fairways…not worth the price.
Needs major work
Was never told course is almost unplayable condition. Only 13 holes had greens that were wete in terrible condition and 5 temp holes in the fairways. Glad i did not oay full rate. Hopefully they will invest in maintenence soon since the track is good and pave of play was excellent.

Green and tees were in bad shape needs lots of work
Golf Course From Hades
This is the absolute worst golf course I have found in FL/GA. The temporary greens are just awful fairways, course layout is ALL over the world. Do not do not waste your time.
