Royal St. Augustine Golf and Country Club

The overall layout is fun and challenging, however the extremely poor conditions of most every green was a great disappointment. Dry rot and aeration trackings made reading and putting a crap shoot. We could not gauge speed and it was like putting on the surface of a huge, toasted English muffin. Nooks and crannies are good for butter and not a putter. All in all the fairways were in good shape. Lots of water and a fair amount of beachfront to play around but again, no real issues with the layout.

The staff were all friendly and accommodating and the clubhouse and restaurant were clean and welcoming. The bottom line is that Royal St. Augustine has the potential to be one of best public courses to play without having to sell body parts to cover the cost. The greens need a vast amount of improvement before we will convince ourselves to make the 30 mile drive again. It’s a shame as we do like the course. Overall I give this venue only 3 out of 5 stars but with playable greens 4 or 5 stars id a real possibility.

Do not play this course unless you want to putt on all sand so called "greens". Same goes with tee boxes. Played this course many times in the past but never in this condition. Should have paid me to play there instead of the other way around. Will not play again until course completely fixed.

Hands down the worst course I played in 5 years in Florida. Greens had no grass on them, fairways were in horrible shape, snd traps were in horrible shape. paid 43.00 for the round on golf now, 10.00 course at best. Course should return all money. Will NEVER go back to this course again. Cart girl Victoria was great and worked the bar after our round. She was the best part of the worst round of golf in years.(Course conditions)

Pace of play was a little slow but my group enjoyed the wildlife and the layout!

Course has a great layout, not sure what’s going on but I’d pass on playing anytime soon, very bad condition.

The tee boxes have no grass and greens are in poor condition. Backside is a little better but still doesn’t meet basic expectations.Better to pass on this course until conditions improve if you want to enjoy your golf experience

All 18 greens were atrocious. The ball did not roll but rather jumped, skipped and hopped around regardless of the distance to the hole. A vast majority of the tee boxes were dirt or sand. Patrons fail to fill divots.

There were no greens, that were remotely playable. There were several tee boxes, where it was just sand.

Go elsewhere, until they can get it together...

Greens are trash. Majority of greens didn't even have grass on them. Tee Boxes same issue. Bare and teeing off sand/dirt mix. The track is very tough and challenging. Very frustrating to get on in regulation to have horrific putting conditions.

Resident that live on the course were complaining that we were playing too close to their property. The only sign I saw was the one that said no carts. Nothing about trespassing or private property and we were not in their fence line. Very odd, why live on a golf course if peaceful golfers playing on the course is a bother to you? Beyond that the course was poorly maintained and the manager would not try to pair singles so pace of play was out of wack. I can’t recommend this course.

Got there to find out the front nine was closed. Golf Now said nothing on their app about it. The back 9 layout was cool but the course was not in good shape.

this is my 3rd time playing here, twice since last October. The greens are awful! I finally seen a true green on the 17th hole!

The course has a real beauty to it but it has got to have some love!

Course was in the worst condition I have ever seen it. Every single tee box was dirt except for maybe 2. Almost every single green was under repair and was dirt. The front 9 was only playable so they only allowed to play the front 9 twice.

This golf course is not ready for play, clearly it needs some more love, greens are in terrible shape, tee boxes are sand boxes, it has some signs of maintenance work being done, but it’s not ready,

Greens/tee boxes on the front 9 are almost unplayable. All sand and fertilizer. Back 9 still was rough but a lot better. Staff very friendly, course layout is challenging.
