About
Located in Florida’s oldest city, Royal St. Augustine Golf & Country Club offers a glimpse of the area’s lush foliage and native marshlands. The course has a visually interesting layout with elevated, sprawling greens and a variety of bunker shapes and sizes. The moguled fairways and sandy waste areas are two other distinguishing features of the course. It is a tight course with large greens and gentle undulations. The layout provides a “target-golf” experience that puts a premium on accuracy and distance control. The numerous bends in the course in combination with the blustery winds also makes proper club selection very important.

Better for skiing
I read the reviews of the greens being rough, the tee boxes being scuffed, and the fairways were sparse -- but much worse was that many of the fairways were apparently designed with moguls that made for bad lies on great drives. One shouldn't be punished for driving or hitting the fairway but that was often the result of driving off the tee or hitting a good iron of a par 5. I won't be returning.
The tee boxes were in poor condition . It had very little grass. Several of the greens look like they were dirt that had been painted green.
For the price I am not expecting pristine conditions but I did expect better

Playing for ten years there. Green’s are very good as well as fairways. Best I have seen

Great layout but course in rough shape. Tee boxes were bare, greens rough and uncut. Our cart kept dieing. Told check in and were told new ones are on the way. Supposedly 4 weeks from 2/2/25. Friendly staff.
