Wedgefield Golf Club
About
The course at the Wedgefield Golf & Country Club, although suitable for all golfers, is most appropriate for intermediate players. The affordably priced Wedgefield Golf Club used to be known as Rocket City and Cape Orlando. The course has a classic-Florida style layout with medium sized greens that are guarded by bunkers and fairways lined with cypress trees. There is water on the golf course but it is not a significant factor in the game. However, there is one hole, the par-3 sixth hole that is surrounded on three sides by water. Wedgefield Golf & Country Club, in addition to the course, has a chipping area and putting green as well as a golf school.

Good layout that can get long
Pick your tees wisely. There are some short holes and some brutes. It's not a tight course but you can get in trouble easily in some places.
Everything was a bit dry, and the bunkers are pretty much dirt. A couple of tees were rough, but other than that, very playable.
Don’t bother
What a disappointment. Reviews at 4+ stars. Tees and fairways just awful. Greens good but slow. Areas around greens bare dirt. Layout is pretty good. At one time this was likely a great track but no more.
Back Nine Start
Not sure why we started on back 9, but then when we got around to front there 3 foursomes that started on front 9. It became a cluster waiting. In addition, our cart died.
Interesting layout, rundown facilities
Had a really enjoyable round
Upsides:
The course is very interesting.
It offers a decent yet fair challenge
Very friendly staff
Quick speed of play
Very inexpensive
Downsides are:
The pro shop is very poorly stocked (seems the only brand of equipment that they carry is Srixon - so no last minute ProV1s etc)
The halfway house / bar only opens at 4pm (at least this was the case yesterday) - so don’t arrive hungry…
It is a little dried out and has some patchiness, but given the cost of playing it is definitely worth the money.
Groups of 7 and 9
Overall great experience besides running into two groups of 7 people and of 9 people all teeing off and not letting my twosome play through so every hole on the back 9 had a 15 minute wait to tee off.
This course was really good fir the price..layout was good and challenging..some patchy areas but nothing terrible
Friendly staff fast golf.
Had a 6:59 tee time and arrived ten minutes before my tee time and the woman in the proshop was wonderful. It was my first time playing this course and it’s good to start out a round with a little positivity! Also, two older gentleman offered me to play in front of them because they were going to play slow which is a nice change in people and pace.
The cart party was pretty bumpy, as well as some spots in the fairways. Roughs weren’t looking the best, greens were very pure and rolled true. Got 18 holes done in 2.5 hours.
“Go to” course and Great staff !!
Saturday 3/23: Our Go To course when we just want a practice round. It’s close to Lake Nona . We actually got there and realized that we mixed up our venue for Sat vs Sunday. The pro shop staff was very accommodating. He accepted our Sunday GolfNow booking and gave us a tee time today. We got out right away and finished in about 4hr. Pace was a little slow at first behind a foursome that looked like they were beginners, but by the 3rd hole, they let us twosome play thru. Greens were nice with some weeds on them but rolled well. Fairways had some bare patches but good in the middle. Overall good value for the $ . We are regulars here and will come back .
Great value for the price
Like the layout and greens were in very good condition. They do roll a little slower than some courses. Putting was good and true. A few of the greens have a lot of undulations and can be tricky. Positive: fairways had enough grass that you have good lies. Greens overall were in decent shape. Price was very good for course conditions. Negative: a few areas have been missed by the mower. The rough could be a little taller and thicker. Sand traps need to be turned over and raked daily.
Needs Work
One of the few tracks around that wasn't $60+ to play on the weekend. Our tee time was at 1:45 on a Sunday because we booked it late and there wasn't anything earlier available, but I think the AM times were only a few dollars more something like $46 + tax. We paid $44 total incl tax. So for the price it was good enough but it does need a little love. No rakes on the carts or by the bunkers and the sand was hard grey dirt. Greens weren't too bad but the tee boxes were a mess.
No ball washers, no drinking water, no sand or n sand bunkers, no cart service, terrible fairways and surroundings of almost all greens. I don’t think I want to play here again until the course conditions meet a minimum set of basic requirements.
