Wedgefield Golf Club
About
The course at the Wedgefield Golf & Country Club, although suitable for all golfers, is most appropriate for intermediate players. The affordably priced Wedgefield Golf Club used to be known as Rocket City and Cape Orlando. The course has a classic-Florida style layout with medium sized greens that are guarded by bunkers and fairways lined with cypress trees. There is water on the golf course but it is not a significant factor in the game. However, there is one hole, the par-3 sixth hole that is surrounded on three sides by water. Wedgefield Golf & Country Club, in addition to the course, has a chipping area and putting green as well as a golf school.

Wedgefield is BACK
What an incredible change over the past three years! Greens rolling true & fast, fairways plush with over seed!
Great value
Above average course with relaxed staff and atmosphere. Much better choice than Great Outdoors course in the area. Surrounded by houses but they are not a problem and course is quiet without road noise. Greens are in great shape and designed well. Book it.
Wedgefield golf ⛳️
Course is a good layout, great value. Greens were in best shape I've seen them, and it's obvious that they are maintaining the course, while still keeping the price down.
Very nice
I hadn’t played the course in over 10 years. Friends told me great shape now and they were correct. Very nice course. Greens excellent
Nice course
Very nice course. Well maintained, friendly staff. Pace of play is excellent. Good value. Will certainly play again
Great Value
I believe a hidden gem. Will be playing there more.
Nice layout. Decent condition.
As with every review that I do I will provide the pros, the cons and a summary.
First the pros:
Great price for this time of year. Near Orlando at under $50 is a bargain this time of year in Florida.
The course conditions were decent. The overseed made the fairways pretty nice and the greens were smooth and receptive. Tee boxes were also fairly decent. Overall on a 1 to 5 I’d give the condition a 3.75.
The food in the restaurant was great and Desire’ was an awesome server.
The pace of play wasn’t bad at about 3.5 hours for the round.
The layout was challenging but fair. You could definitely get into trouble but could get back out with some smart play.
Now the cons:
The range was not marked at all. I wasn’t sure where I was supposed to hit from.
There were no flags or anything on the range to give you an idea of distances.
The restaurant didn’t open until 4. No hot dogs or anything else to snack on.
NO water to drink on the course. Better bring something because there is no drink cart and no fountains or jugs. For a Florida course this is bad. Fortunately I had my water with me. But my Pard didn’t and he was hurting by the end of the front.
Overall Summary:
I’d play here again in a heartbeat and would definitely recommend this course. But just come in prepared with your own water or purchase before you go out. This course is convenient from the beaches or Orlando and they are putting money into it.
Potential but Needs Management Intervention
Booked the course based on reviews.
The first impression was a poor arrival experience … cold, indifferent service at the pro-shop. Maybe didn’t want to be there on Christmas Eve? Generally we have been warmly welcomed and our patronage appreciated at most Florida courses.
The course fairways were quite overgrown and the tee boxes were just okay. The sand traps were inconsistent with most being hard and a little bare of sand. There were no rakes on course.
The course layout was good … we enjoyed the way each tee box was close by and the pace of play was excellent … we played in 3 hours 15 minutes.
There was no GPS on the carts and the course was not well marked for yardage.
The course has potential for sure but with many other well run golf courses available … not sure if we would return.
Good shape
Been a few years. Course is in good condition. Good value right now. Excellent layout. Can’t beat it for under $50. I will be back
Greens and fairways in GREAT Condition
First time playing this course and loved it. I will definitely be back. Course conditions is much better than several courses around here. Very impressed with the green conditions.
Better and Better
Every year we have a tournament booked at Wedgefield in December. Its over an hour drive from where I live as well. Last two years you could see the improvements being made. This year though, huge difference, manicured top notch conditions! Kudos to the owner and staff because I would have to say its well worth the drive now from what it was 3 years ago! Its always been a great layout, very enjoyable track but the conditions now match what it used to be.
I recommend you play it.
Played Saturday morning. Hooked up with three other guys. 3 hours 40 minutes. I would rate the tee boxes a 7, the fair ways 7 and the greens 7.Bunkers were ok. I would like to play it again. Price is good. Easy to get to from the freeway. Close to the airport.
Pleasantly surprised. The course layout is very interesting. Must place your shots. Greens were perfect.
Great lunch at the clubhouse after golf.
Very Nice
Course was in good condition and the greens were in great shape. I will be back
Hi, Thank you for seeing the improvements.
