Wedgefield Golf Club
About
The course at the Wedgefield Golf & Country Club, although suitable for all golfers, is most appropriate for intermediate players. The affordably priced Wedgefield Golf Club used to be known as Rocket City and Cape Orlando. The course has a classic-Florida style layout with medium sized greens that are guarded by bunkers and fairways lined with cypress trees. There is water on the golf course but it is not a significant factor in the game. However, there is one hole, the par-3 sixth hole that is surrounded on three sides by water. Wedgefield Golf & Country Club, in addition to the course, has a chipping area and putting green as well as a golf school.

Aeration in progress.
The course is in the middle of aeration, the greens were pretty bad for the first 6 holes (droppings all over the greens) had to scrape a path to putt. I get it, maintenance but GolfNow should provide the critical information.
The course is good, fairways have some weeds but playable, greens will take a week or two.
Great Layout. Aeration Warning (10/17)
I love Wedgefield, great layout and the greens are normally in good condition
Imagine my shock as I approached the 1st green to find that it had literally just been punched and the grounds keeper was about to spread sand !!! Luckily the other 17 holes had not yet been punched, they were just a little “furry” and slow
Can’t complain as I got a great hot deal rate and just wanted to practice
I will be back in a few weeks when greens have recovered
Challenging Layout
The staff are very friendly receptive and they do have a nice dining room. The course layout is challenging, but that makes it fun. The only issue is the course had not been cut in a while, and so the grass was a little higher than it should be. The greens are in above average condition however, they are very slow. The fees are reasonable and I would recommend this course and will play again if I’m in that area.
Decent for the price
This is an unassuming course. T-shirts allowed, no beverage cart, no ranger and decent greens.
Tee boxes and fairways were ok at best. Quite a few weeds. Greens were in very good shape, just a little on the slow side. We had a group in front of us playing a scramble because they were beginners and they held us up all day.
Glad to see the fairways recovering from being more bare this past summer
Excellent greens
What a treat, fabulous course so interesting and the greens where the best we have played this holiday.
Anthony was so helpful and friendly, can't fault anything.
Definitely be back
Fairways recoverng
Nice to see that some of the fairways are recovering that were sparce this summer. Greens are in very good shape
I’ll be back
Heavy rains the night prior to morning of play and the course held up very well. For the amount of rain that we had I expected to be plugging balls all day, but the greens held up and the fairways looked good with a few understandable exceptions. They are re-seeding some areas that birds have torn up and will be doing aeration of the greens early in October. Even with that knowledge I will be back sooner than later.
Price is right!
Greens were $$$, fairways were solid, as were the tee boxes. Determining yardages was tough, you'll need a range finder or app on your phone.
Staff was very helpful and friendly.
First time playing in the Orlando area as I live in the Tampa area, I would definitely recommend this course
Worth checking out if you’re on that side of town
I play this course about once a month and it’s usually in pretty good shape particularly the greens the Fairways a little rough in places in the rough was really deep hard to find golf balls but it’s a fairly easy course and worth checking out
Better than expected
The only reason I gave this review less stars than I did was that it wasn’t communicated to us that the front nine was closed so we’d have to play the back nine twice, and they had just punched fairways. Winter rules in September made that a non issue tho. Can’t wait to come back again after the fairways are healed to see it again. And to see the front nine. Greens and tee boxes were fantastic! Had a blast at Wedgefield.
