Wide open wonder
If you’re tired of playing courses where the homes are so close to the Fairways that you’re afraid you’re going to hit a house or an owner who happens to be outside — you’ll love the wide open wonder of the Santa Rosa course at Sun City. Despite the openness, it’s plenty challenging for maybe all but true scratch golfers. Very nice greens with challenging pin placements. Nice conditions on the Fairways and roughs. We were a threesome. We waited consistently for the foursome in front of us, but never an overly long wait. We completed the round in 3:45, so no complaints there. There is a beverage cart, but we only saw her once, and that was on the 3rd hole. No drinking water on course, so bring your own or ask for a cup when checking in. We didn’t see any restaurant or hospitality area. We weren’t looking for one, but if you are, you might be disappointed. Seemed to be fewer people around to help than at most area courses (nobody at the bag drop when we arrived and no starter), but the golf itself was very enjoyable.
Santa Rosa
Rode the Blacks (6720/72.1/127) mid day using Underpar. Played with Mneilson, his wife Doris and roarksown1. Thanks Mike, Doris and Robert for a fun round! 4H, 15M POP, the weather was around 65, clear and calm.
The course came out of over seeding in excellent condition.
The over seeded tees were lush, level and nicely maintained with very few unfixed divots.
The over seeded fairways were lush and nice to play from.
The over seeded rough was lush and mowed down, not overly penal.
The sand traps were nicely maintained with thick, good dark quality sand.
The large over seeded greens were firm and putted medium fast speed with few ball marks.
Nice, all grass driving range is a +. Basic carts do not have GPS or ports for electronics. Plenty of water stations on the course and the drink cart was around several times today. Santa Rosa would be a challenging course to walk, many tees are a long way from the last green. Good restaurant on site. Customer service has always been very good from everyone here. Recommended.
Best value in the desert
Santa Rosa at Sun City – Mountain Vista is a real treat. The golf course is the finest condition all year long. You will have to pay a lot more to get the course conditions you get here day in and day out.
The Santa Rosa layout is challenging from the tips but not so much that you get frustrated it plays a little over 6700 yards but they have tees for seniors and everything in between. The range is good and the putting greens are large and indicative of the actual green speeds.
The course layout can come up and bite you if you are not careful but the fairways are wide and forgiving. There is water on many holes and the signature holes 10 and 11 are really beautiful with it waterfalls and many unique water fowl. Give Santa Rosa a try, you will have a great round of golf and be treated well, and for the money you can’t get a better conditioned track! Great greens and fairways are always manicured. Staff from the pros, marshals and cart guys can’t be beat!
conditions

Cart path only
Course was fine- not appropriate that Golf Now will not inform of cart path only status but already charged client
Changing tee-off time
I usually don’t book a tee-time after 1:30 p.m. during this time of the year! What happened: I got a mail telling me that my t-time was put back from 1:26 to 1:58 for unknown reasons?! The proshop told me that this was an issue with golfnow and not with them! I do not like when i am pushed around as a good customer!
Pls tell me the real reason - i could hardly finish the round due to darkness
Santa Rosa
Rode the Blacks (6720/72.1/127) mid day using Forelinx. Paired with Mike, excellent guy to play with. CPO, we enjoyed a relaxed 3H, 50M round playing behind a shotgun. The weather was around 75, clear and breezy. The course came out of over seeding in excellent condition.
The over seeded tees were lush, level and nicely maintained. Very few unfixed divots.
The over seeded fairways were lush and nice to play from.
The over seeded rough was lush and mowed down. Not overly penal.
The sand traps were nicely maintained with thick, good quality sand.
The large over seeded greens were firm and putted medium speed with few ball marks.
Santa Rosa is definitely not a good course to walk, many tees are a long way from the last green. Nice, all grass driving range is a +. Basic carts do not have GPS. Plenty of water stations on the course, usually no drink cart on weekdays here. Usually no starter or Marshall. Good restaurant on site. Customer service has always been very good from everyone here. Recommended.

Rode the Blacks (6720/72.1/127) mid day as a single in slightly less than 3H using UP. The weather was around 105, hazy and breezy.
The Bermuda tees were mostly lush, level and nicely maintained. Very few unfixed divots.
The Bermuda fairways were mostly lush and nice to play from.
The Bermuda rough was mostly lush and mowed down. Not overly penal.
The sand traps were excellent. Nicely maintained with thick, good quality sand.
The large Bermuda greens were not good today. Firm and bumpy with few ball marks, they putted medium slow.

Fun times
This course was awesome. The staff was very friendly and got us moving fast. There was a slower group playing in front of us but the starter made sure we wouldn’t be playing behind them. Greens were very fair for summer golf!! I recommend this course!
Very nice course but greens were just punched
The course layout is very nice. Plenty of room to hit to in addition to all the sand and water on the course. Generous fairways. Kind of short from the gold tees (6150 yds) but would have been better from the black tees (6750 yds). Other than the greens being punched a couple weeks before, the course was in great shape. I’d love to play it again with the greens proper.
good course, nice staff
Played here before and as always, the course was in good condition and the pro shop staff were great.
Will be back!
Not the best condition
I've played this course several times and always enjoyed it. This time, however, the greens were not in the best shape, having been punched and sanded, making putting more difficult than it should have been. But I'm sure it will shortly be back to its normal condition, and I look forward to playing it again in the future.
Santa Rosa course excellence
The course was in great shape especially for early June. While it was busy we were not pushed and waited minimally on five or six holes golfing as a 4-some. The clubhouse lounge and restaurant was closed so we had to go to Papa Dan’s for a libation after the game. No view or club ambiance.
Very nice layout
Interesting mix of longer and shorter holes. Plenty of interest for the intermediate golfer. Big hitters and low handicappers might be bored, but there are plenty of courses for them in the desert.
MV Santa Rosa
Rode the Blacks (6720/72.1/127) mid day as a single in slightly less than 3H. The weather was around 100, clear/sunny and calm.
While not nearly as green as it is during the prime, over seeded season, this course really plays well. The Bermuda comes in thick and strong and the coverage is excellent throughout.
The tees were lush, level and nicely maintained. Very few unfixed divots, some of the better tees I play on. The Bermuda is so even it looks like astroturf.
The fairways were lush and nice to play from.
The rough was lush and mowed down. Not overly penal, it was mowed low enough to putt off many greens.
The sand traps were excellent. Nicely maintained with thick, good quality sand.
The large Bermuda greens are firm and putted medium speed with few ball marks. More so than many Bermuda courses, the grain really affects the speed here. Putting into the grain and it's easy to leave even a downhill putt short. Putting with the grain, and you better just touch a downhiller or you can have 8-12' coming back really easily.
Customer service has always been very good from everyone here. Santa Rosa is definitely not a good course to walk, many tees are a long way from the last green. Nice, all grass driving range is a +. Basic carts do not have GPS is a -. Plenty of water stations on the course, usually no drink cart on weekdays here. No starter or marshall off season. Good restaurant on site. Recommended.

Rode the Blacks (6720/72.1/127) with Bob mid morning in slightly over 3H using Under Par. The weather was in the high 90's, sunny and calm.
The tees were lush, level and nicely maintained.
The fairways were lush and nice to play from.
The rough was lush and mostly mowed down. Not tough to play out of, it was mowed low enough to putt off many greens.
The sand traps were nicely maintained with thick, good quality sand.
The greens have transitioning back to Bermuda. They are firm and medium speed with few ball marks.

Great Price , Great golf
Has short holes and long holes but all challenging. One of my favorite in the vale land always reasonably priced
