The Senator Course at Shula's Golf Club
About
The 18-hole championship course at Don Shula's Golf Club is one of those courses that just seems to get better as you play your way around.
The first few holes are fairly open and not overly difficult. However, things start to get more difficult as you continue. By the time you make it to the 11th green, you'll know that you're in for a real dogfight. The fairways on the back get tight and there's water on just about every hole. All in all, it's a very enjoyable course from start to finish.
There are tennis courts, multiplex, fitness center etc. There’s something for everyone. The hotel's onsite amenities include upscale dining at the Original Shula's Steak House and casual dinning at the Bull Pen, which serves breakfast lunch and light dinner until 7pm.

This course has great features
It is well maintained. The play fee is very affordable using this website. It is located nearby.
This course was fun play
Good course to play, some holes are difficult to play.
Greens were in good conditions.
Have fun!
Variety of holes and layouts, although the course is quite flat
Don Shula´s Senator Course is very enjoyable and allows all levers all players to feel comfortable. some holes are long, others not so much, but the best is one does not always require the driver off the blue-tees, which already gives an idea that often the player faces trade-offs between safety and risk.
This course is in the average, not bad but not very good neither
I've been paired up with 3 other intermediate players and had great time in this course. However, I overestimated the quality of the course based on the asking freen fees. It was not bad but was not great neither in comparaison with other courses in Fort Lauderdale such as Hillcrest or Jacaranda or Palm-Aire (Oaks). The pace was good (4hr) for a 4 intermediate players but always felt pressured from behind, particularly with one stressing player in the group. It's good to visit once when no other choice is available.
Just a Name
This place is just a name "Shula" and he has nothing to do with this course, over priced for the conditions , not the greatest place to play, way too much water on the back 9, maybe Tiger can hit those greens without landing in water and speaking of those greens some were bad , and some were ok, not worth the money if you ask me, my cart ran out of battery on the 12 th hole and I called the pro shop 3 times and they came out to recue me 0n the 17th hole 40 mins later not good.
I happen to live in Miami Lakes and know this course better then some of you, dont let the name fool you, there is a course not far from Shula's, called "CC Miami that is just as good or better for the money and there is 2 courses there, decent greens and reasonable green fees, Shulas 2 thumbs down
The course needs better maintenance but overall a good golfing experience at a reasonable price,
Fairways and some tee boxes need improvement along with better signage on some holes. Lots of water on back nine which requires accurate placement of shots. No GPS on carts and cart paths in disrepair along some holes. Staff very friendly and locker rooms (restrooms) well maintained. Overall it was an enjoyable round of golf.
Greens are in great shape. Wind made for a challenging day, but had a great time.
Wind made for a challenging day, but we had a great time. Great value for the price.
play there often, always challenging especially the back nine
course is well maintened, very challenging in the wind, good value for the money
course is in good condition; greens are really nice althougha bit soft
The fairways are good, inspite of S.Florida not having had rain for some time. The greens are in really good condition. A bit slow but still very nice.
Good value.
Going to get better.
At the GolfNow tee time rate, this course is a good value. At the rack rate, it is dreadfully overpriced, IMO.
Course condition was good - they just re-opened having re-built the tee boxes, greens, and bunkers. Greens have come in nicely. They rolled well, were consistent, and SLOW. That's a given this early following the re-seeding - much better to have them healthy and slow instead of dead and fast! They'll only get better as the weather cools a bit and the grass matures. Tee boxes were in fine shape, as were the bunkers. Fairways were thin and generally spotty. Acceptable condition at $40 GolfNow rate, but not acceptable condition for the rack rate.
FELLOW GOLFERS, PLEASE FIX YOUR COTTON-PICKIN' BALL MARKS! THESE GREENS ARE BRAND NEW AND IF YOU WANT TO KEEP THEM NICE, FIX YOUR ####### MARKS!
Get your scoring in on the front nine, as it's pretty forgiving for a poor driver of the golf ball. Be smart about positioning and stay below the hole, and the front will give up some birdies. The back nine is much less forgiving. If you spray it, you'll come in with a big number (ask me how I know.)
The Bullpen food prices are absurd. $4.50 for a fountain drink and a cookie? Come on man - I know food sales are one way that courses stay open, but again, come on man. Also beware if you have an early tee time - no breakfast, so eat before you arrive.
Overall a good experience and I'll be back.
all around great course!
Course was in great condition. Challenging holes and friendly staff. had an awesome time. definately going back.
Good course Great layout
This course has a great layout, with some fun holes on the front 9 and some very challenging and difficult holes on the back. The greens were in terrific shape. The staff from the pro shop to the starter to the restaurant were super friendly and helpful. Only problem was many of the fairways and some of the tee boxes were in need of work. With some work though, this course could be great and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.
Great Challenging course
greens in good condition, tee boxes and some fairways could use upgrades.Great value for the $45 thru Golfnow. Heard from staff that course will be shut down for renovations within a few months. definitely will play again in the future.
I think overall everything was very good not great.
Everything was very good and excellent for the price.
Its seen better days...
This course was one of my favorites as it is a challenging course with wonderful views/scenery however it has deteriorated over the years. The fairways are beat up, there are many areas that need attention however it provides value for the money thanks to Golf Now. I wouldn't pay a dime over the $45 we got however... P.S. Greens are running slow, lets trim em down a bit guys !
Great course and decent price
I enjoyed very much playing the Don Shula Senator course. $45 per player was a good price for a challenging course and overall a great experience.
Good course.
Course has an easier front nine than on the back. Back nine not made for beginners due to water and precision shot requirements. Overall course is well maintained.
Pleasantly surprised
The course received a lot of rain a few days before my friend and I played but it drained really well! The greens were in great shape despite being slow due to moisture. I will be back soon!!
course well maintained. good test for all ability golfer
greens were slow but well kept and consistent. bunkers not consistent.
