River Oaks Golf Club
About
River Oaks Golf Club stretches across more than 800 scenic acres along the Intracoastal Waterway. The Course begins with the shortest of the three nines and finishes with the longest. The final hole on the front nine presents one of the most interesting risk-reward opportunities on the golf course. You can aim for the right bunker for an open shot at the green or try a long drive down the left side for a short approach. River Oaks Golf Clubs' Otter nine has several challenges in store including mounding, strategically placed bunkers, and tricky water hazards.

Value, good layout
A true value and layout is challenging but fair. Some soft muddy spots on fairways and some greens need some love but all in all a great place to play.
Average gopher
It was ridiculously long. 5 hours around is uncalled for.
Crappy experience
Crappy experience from the start. Got to course and the bag attendant was extremely rude and pushy. Then most fairways on the otter were soaking wet and every bunker had water in it so you couldn't even find your ball.
Condition
There were a lot of grass clippings. Greens were shaggy. This is understandable if there has been a lot of rain.
I was charged twice for one round. One cost was to be removed but was not. So this is not over!!!!
Challenging Course
River Oaks provides a great balance of open and tight fairways with water features making club selection important. The late summer heat is evident on a few of the greens, but our experience was not impacted. I recommend this course and will be back.
A Pleasant Place to Play
River Oaks is one of my favorite Myrtle Beach golf courses. The staff are friendly and helpful. The fairways and greens are mostly OK. Some holes are very challenging. The big problem at this time of year is all the geese poop on the Otter Course, not to mention the geese themselves. The pace of play was excruciatingly slow. I had to skip a few holes because Otter has no restrooms on the course, and the one on Fox is not well-situated. I couldn't afford to wait for the slow people ahead to finish.
Great course
Fairways were in great shape.
Greens were good.
Staff is great
Decent deal
For the price it was ok. Wouldn’t recommend meeting a friend there but I played it alone on a Golf Now hot deal. Significant standing water, and hadn’t rained that much, even in the fairways. Off the fairway was weedy. Greens pretty spotty. Overall, a decent cheaper course to get a round in but not for an outing for someone that likes a great course.
Great challenging course
Everything you want in a course. Close fairways and tight fairways are present on this course. Some greens were experiencing areas of damage. But were not so bad that they presented a problem. I really enjoyed 2 rounds of golf while on vacation.
Slow play required!!!
Played 9 holes, took over 3 1/2 hours. Back 9 took over 40 min to play 2 holes !! Gave up at that point, decent course but unless you have all day to play 18 avoid it like the plauge. I am a myrtle beach resident and will tell everyone to go somewhere else. Understand course caters to tourists, but that's what a starter/course Marshall is supposed to keep in check. NEVER GOING BACK !! Turned down rain check for 9 holes. Course su ks unless you are a group of 5 or 6, they don't care how long the round takes
