Farmstead Golf Club is a 7,242-yard par-72 layout on McLamb Road in Calabash, N.C. and is among the newest courses to open in the Grand Strand. Farmstead also has the unique distinction of having the region's only par 6! That's right, the 740-yard 18th hole is sure to become one of the most talked about in the Grand Strand.
Farmstead was designed by Willard Byrd and David Johnson and features a rare par-6. The 18th hole measures 767 yards from the back tees, as well as 679 from the white and 635 from the ladies' red tees.

Great greens and playable layout.
Very busy due to 70 degree weather, staff handled the crowd very well. Tee times were within 10 minutes, even with the course full. Very friendly staff.
Nice
Course and staff were excellent. A little long for seniors but playable. Greens were perfect. An enjoyable round of golf. Pace of play was average (4 hrs). I'll be playing this course again.
Nice layout and good condition
From tee to green course in good condition. First time playing and truly enjoyed round.Only draw back was length of round of 4 hr and 40 minutes.
Good value if you don't mind waiting
Tee boxes, fairways and greens where in good to great shape for the middle of winter. Pace of play was dreadful. Never saw a ranger. Place was packed and no beverage cart. Good rate but wish we had paid a few more dollars to move along at a little better pace.
A pleasant course for all golfers
Everything about Farmstead is good. Interesting layout, well maintained, good greens, and a very friendly staff. There are a few holes that have hidden "features", so unless you're familiar with the course it's a good idea to invest in a course guide. The practice facilities are very good and the pro shop is well stocked. Farmstead is one of the really fun courses in the Myrtle Beach/Calabash area. Pace of play is seldom a concern as the course ambassadors to a fine job. Highly recommended.
Course was in great shape. Pace on the second 9 was verygood.
First ime here.
Pricing through Golfnow was excellent.Nice driving range and practice green.Actual greens were a little fuzzy and slow in comparison .Had a great day and will play there again.
The Barnyard at Farmstead
From a few thoroughbreds to a smattering of other free range barnyard species impacting the play at Farmstead, it was a beautiful day to be outside enjoying nature. Slow play and slow greens aside...and no tequila in the clubhouse...the course is well designed, challenging and surprising, with a long par six on hole eighteen to finish out your round. Irritatingly slow and lacking a marshall to shepherd the unruly; and, with no beer cart to soothe the savaged souls of same, I have to give Farmstead a 7 out of a possible 10.
great especially for spring
Course was in great shape greens fast true. Course played longer than usual due to no roll and windy. Slow play 5 hours nice day course was crowded.
Nice course
It was in good shape and was worth what we paid. We had a good time overall and would recommend this course to a friend.
Love this course, it is one of my top 6 in this area. Signature par 6 #18 is a lot of fun.
Wife and I enjoy having the opportunity to play this course again, with the help of a discounted Golfnow rate. My handicap used to be a 9, but at age 60 with little time to play (once a month) it's inflated as anticipated. But the joy of courses like this takes the sting out a little.
Great day of golf on a great course. Greens were in great shape.
It is a very easy going course
The wide fairways are very invited. The green were in great shape, fast and rooling well. I expect to go back at this price.
Round with Friends
Have played Farmstead numerous times and always enjoy the course. The only negative was the golf shop attendant, Dan I think.
Inconsiderate Starter
I booked a tee time as a single this morning. I arrived 30 minutes early and went to the practice green. I was to be paired up with a twosome at 1:00. The course was very busy so I went with the expectation of playing a 5 hour round. While I was waiting the starter sent out 2 twosomes and a threesome. At 1:00 the twosome I was to play with had paid but they were no where to be found. At 1:05, after my tee time, the starter sent out a threesome. There is no excuse for the starter to make me wait 30 minutes and he made me wait after my tee time passed. He could have put me with at least 3 different groups. This is not the way to treat customers. You never know who that customer might be and what they may have to offer you. I recently relocated to North Myrtle Beach. I could have become a regular here but I won't return. There are plenty of other great courses to play on the Grand Strand. I can't tolerate bad customer service. I got a refund and left without playing.
Great time
