Farmstead Golf Club is a 7,242-yard par-72 layout on McLamb Road in Calabash, N.C. and is among the newest courses to open in the Grand Strand. Farmstead also has the unique distinction of having the region's only par 6! That's right, the 740-yard 18th hole is sure to become one of the most talked about in the Grand Strand.
Farmstead was designed by Willard Byrd and David Johnson and features a rare par-6. The 18th hole measures 767 yards from the back tees, as well as 679 from the white and 635 from the ladies' red tees.

Nice course with a bit if everything for all levels.
Liked this course but pace of play was ridiculously slow. Otherwise it was nice and would consider again but only if had extra time built in schedule to accommodate slower play.
Great Course
Staff was unbelievable and marshals were super friendly. Course is in great shape and overall excellent day at the course. I will add to my list every year.
Nice Course
Place was in good Condition, Greens very good, Staff very friendly
Golf madness
Great course.. Not real tough.. Keep it in the fairway and you will score well.. Greens were true with good roll.. Will play again
Good Course
Before heading to myrtle beach for my trip I read a lot of reviews and this course had a lot of mixed reviews. I went ahead and decided to go ahead and play it mainly because I had never played a par 6 before and thought that was a cool concept. I was very pleasantly surprised the course was in great shape from tee to green. the greens were a little slow with a heavy early morning dew as I had a 730 tee time but as the morning went on they became rather quick. Loved the lay out course and the par 6 finishing hole was very unique. For the price of the course I would highly recommend this course as a great way to start your golf trip.
5 Star fo sure
Wonderful layout and a joy to play. This is my 28th different course I have played since moving to the area in January. Farmstead and its sister course Meadowlands are very well maintained courses. Greens were wonderful and rolled true. I definitely suggest adding these two courses to your play lists when visiting the area!
Great Experience & Great Value!
Course has an outstanding layout and is incredible shape! Greens are in phenomenal shape, very fast,. Love the course as most tee shots are somewhat forgiving, but the approach shots need to be spot on? Will be back soon!
Bucket list
Always wanted to play this one. Now I have. Could not par the last though. 767 par 6!
One of my Favorites
My brother in law and I play Farmstead every year when in the area on vacation. Love the course and it's layout. You can get a good deal on the price if you wait till 48 hours from where you wanna play. This year they had some trouble getting the fairways to grow in and a few holes had been cart path only. However, they lifted this the day we played. There were a few bare spots on the fairways but not many and nothing that affected play. The greens were very smooth and just about the right speed. I think it's a great layout that is mostly open but with a lot of interesting challenges in dog legs, elevated greens, bunkers, and water. Very well worth it.
lay out was great
Course was nice had 4 holes with cart path only due to some lost fairways. Overall it was a great experience will definitely play again
Great course, unusual conditions...
This is a great course and probably my favorite on the Grand Strand. If anybody would ask me to recommend a course this would be the first on my list. However, I'd say my last trip yielded the roughest course conditions that I have seen from Farmstead over the past several years. Just a forewarning... conditions are worse than I have sen in the past however they are working on it and I wouldn't let them you from a future visit.
Many bare spots
The green were punched and there were bare spots every where. Played in three hours. Guess word got out about condition.
horrible greens
the course was great a year ago but this time something happen to the greens. they roll them before we played or they would have been even worse than they were. they had patches of dirt like they were burnt etc. weather was perfect and fairways n tee boxes were great.
course conditions
a month ago, these were the best greens around. the course has deteriorated. the greens even though they rolled were sparse with grass. fairways and other green spaces had many, many bare spots. the fairways left one desiring thicker grass. i hope they get their act together because this is a good layout.
worth every penny
we got a great rate we were the first time that morning staff was great and we will be back
Excellent value
My Dad and I played this course in the afternoon in just over 2 1/2 hours so the pace of play may be different during the busier morning hours. That being said, it was a really a fun round of golf which was followed by a round of 18 at their sister course around the corner called "Meadowlands". One of the architects who designed Farmstead was also a primary designer for their sister course but rest assured Farmstead is clearly its own track. Some of the fairways on Farmstead were a little spotty but in light of the fact that I played this course just after the 14' US Open at Pinehurst was completed I took this as an interesting part of the challenge. A very wide and expansive layout where if you find yourself near the hazards be prepared to hit a creative shot off the pine straw or out of a fairway bunker. Interestingly enough this course also includes something not seen at every course, a par 6!
Putters Delight
Greens on this course are quick and roll true. Course was in great shape, but the greens were exceptional.
EXCELLENT GREENS (SEE BELOW)
THE GREENS AND ROUGH AREAS WERE EXCELLENT. TEE BOXES WERE GOOD AND THE COURSE LAYOUT WAS VERY GOOD. HOWEVER, I RATE THE FAIRWAYS A D- BECAUSE THEY HAD VERY LITTLE GRASS; THEY WERE VERY WET (RAIN) AND WERE ALMOST UNPLAYABLE. THE RULE WAS CART PATHS ONLY WHICH MADE THIS COURSE VERY HARD TO PLAY FROM A STAMINA STANDPOINT; ESPECIALLY ON A HUMID DAY.
Will Never Play again
Course was in awful shape. The layout was nice. What really ruined the day was the horrible attitude and rudeness of the staff. Everyone inside and out at the bag drop was very rude. Played it for the first time. Looked forward to it. Day was completely ruined for me and my visiting brother. I will never play here again and will tell every single one of my local friends and coworkers to never play this course. Ridiculous
worth a stop
Everything about Farmstead was worth my time and money.Generous fairways. Greens were great. The 712 yd par 6 #18 was a fun finishing hole . Look forward to playing it again. Thanks again to Randy in pro shop for helping me out !
