Great Layout
This course has long been one of my favorite layouts in the area but sadly conditions have gone down hill the past few years. However, currently with the overseed it’s as good as I’ve experienced here in quite some time. Tees and fairways are good and the greens have some speed to them again. Still a little bit rough around the edges but overall very solid. Really hope they can maintain conditions here as it’s a very enjoyable course to play.
Tiger is back!
Played 11/17 and course is in very good condition... Highly recommended...
THANK YOU VERY MUCH! We agree, Tiger's Eye is back and here to stay, with conditions that are improving even more daily. We are looking forward to 2021 as an amazing opportunity to see all three Big Cats courses at their very best once again. We hope you will come visit us again and see for yourself.
Thank you for the review! Tiger's Eye is definitely in very good condition now and we expect that trend to continue through the remainder of 2020 and beyond! We hope to see you again soon.
Tigers Eye
Much better than when I played it in July. I'd recommend it
Thank you very much for the review of your recent visit to Tiger's Eye! We agree, conditions are much improved and we are looking for this trend to continue on all the Big Cats courses as we move forward. We hope you will come and check out our continued progress. Thanks again!
Nice course
Enjoyed the course. Played on a Monday so quiet and great pace of play. Staff friendly, course in good shape. Will play again
Thank you for taking the time to review your recent round on Tiger's Eye. It is so good to hear the many recent positive comments online, in our golf shop and out on the course. We are so excited about the continuing improvements being made to all The Big Cats courses and we are looking forward to a great 2021 and beyond!
Thank you for your review of your recent visit! We really appreciate it and we hope to see you again soon.
GREAT SHAPE
The greens are spectacular. Quick and true. Fairways and tee boxes very lush. Can’t wait to play again.
We are so glad to hear you enjoyed your round at Tiger's Eye. The greens are definitely in great shape and we hope you will come visit us again very soon.
Big Cat courses
First day played Leopards Chase. Layout is spectacular. Fairways ok on most holes. Rough not great. Greens really bad. Very disappointing. If course was in good shape, would be great. Hard summer, rain, labor help, we were told, were reasons for conditions. People there were great however. Wednesday and Thursday we played Tigers Eye. Great layout. Fairways a bit long, but good. Greens really good. Bunkers mostly good. Overall really good. Staff awesome! Great people. All deserve raises!
Friday morning played Lions Paw. Front nine was terrible. Grass in fairways and rough long and unkept. Greens terrible. Back nine better. Like two different courses. Layout is good. Again not sure why it is unkept. In afternoon, we went back to Tigers Eye. Again, great people at this course. Told them about Lions Paw, and they let us play Tigers Eye again for free. This was very much appreciated by myself and my son. Again great people here, and I highly recommend Tigers Eye. Note to the company that owns these courses. Please give raises to everyone at Tigers Eye.. Great people!
LA LA Land
They are asking 85.00 to play Tigers Eye today and their hot deal is 73.00. I think I am doing a public service to warn you not to spend your money there.. Tiger's Eye is a has been golf course that was once a wonderful and great golf course and facility They look like they are on their last legs. The course(s) are no where in remotely good playing conditions and all the courses in the area are much better than the continued deteriorating conditions at Tiger's Eye and the other Cat courses. What were once gems are now sad reminders of mismanagement and total lack of care. You walk into their nice clubhouse bar and grill and cannot get a draft beer or hot food. and that tells the tale of the fiscal situation they must be in. I have read reviews of Tigers and could not believe it until I played Saturday. Management continues to make excuses , weather, heat, etc. but the other courses in the area seem to overcome it. It is pretty obvious they are in bad fiscal and management shape.
We sincerely apologize for the conditions you described in your review. We definitely experienced a difficult stretch during the late summer and early fall and we greatly apologize for that. We certainly tried to work with any and all guests who had any issues during this challenging period and hopefully that was the case with your group as well. If not, again, I apologize and ask that you reach back out to us directly (ask for Bill Long) and we would appreciate the opportunity to work with you on this matter. On the brighter side, the addition of a new Director of Agronomy with a tremendous amount of experience and training (Along with a stronger support staff) has already led to significant overall improvements to all The Big Cats courses in just a few weeks. The positive buzz at the counter in the past week has been so exciting to hear and we are looking forward to steady progress throughout the remainder of 2020 and beyond. We hope you will give us another opportunity to make amends for the unsatisfactory conditions you experienced on your previous visit. Thank you for your past patronage and we hope to see you again soon.
Fair Course Layout but Conditions could be better
I have played this course a few times before. We returned because the course has a very fair layout for various levels of golfers. I played in early August and the condition of the course was good but not as good as it ad been in past years. I returned again in September and was disappointed in the condition of the course. Both the rough and fairways needed to be mowed. Greens were mowed but slow. We did have a spell of very hot weather that may have impacted the mowing in previous weeks.
Thank you very much for your review of your recent visit. We take all feedback seriously and will do our best to take any and all suggestions into consideration in an effort to improve our operation. We definitely experienced a rough stretch during the late summer and early fall this year, due to many (mostly external) factors, but we have also definitely made considerable progress since your visit. We have a new and highly qualified Director of Agronomy and he has added a strong support staff to his team. the progress they have made in just a few weeks is very encouraging and we are excited about what is in store for the remainder of 2020 and beyond. We hope you will check out our progress in the near future. Thanks again and we hope to see you soon.
Great layout......cut the grass
Layout is excellent. Fair but challenging. Greens were sadly, very slow. Fairways needed to be cut. Worker told me they are afraid of losing the greens because of the heat (first week of Sept). ????? Cut everything and this place would be a joy to play.
We apologize for the speed of the greens and height of the fairway on your recent visit. This was definitely and issue for us during that period. Our new Director of Agronomy and his team are dedicated to improving these types of conditions and actually have made great strides in just a few weeks to do so. We believe the conditions you would experience now are greatly improved from the date of your round. Hopefully you will give us another opportunity to provide a more satisfactory playing experience in the future. We hope to see you soon.
Nice course
Course was in very good shape, there was maybe one hole that needed work. Greens in great shape. Staff friendly with beverage cart. Really liked the layout very scenic.
A Gem that needs TLC
Tigers Eye has the potential to be "the" must play course in Myrtle Beach. The layout is excellent. the scenery is very nice. The wildlife you may see is second to none. The major drawback of Tiger's is no secret and that it needs an influx of manpower and money to get it into a five star or even a tru 4 star rating, While the conditions of the greens have improved over the last year or so, it is still not up to par insofar as condition. The layout of the course keeps its rating as high as it is now. If Tiger's Eye was in 5 star rating shape, they could charge whatever they wanted in season and pack them in. Unfortunately, that is not the case now.
Course conditions
Fairways covered with high weeds the entire course appears to be overgrown with weeds and unkept
A beautiful layout and I have played here many times but played with people who live there and were told that there are financial problems
To many other courses
spend your money elsewhere
Great layout
Course was in good condition for the middle of the summer after a hurricane 2 days before we played.
Tiger red eye maybe
Granted I played one week after the east coast hurricane but I believe the course was unmanaged. The mowing was atrocious my 2 3/4 tee was lower then the grass on the tee box. It needed mowing everywhere. I get the rough needs to be long but I felt the condition of the course was terrible for being ranked in the top ten courses in Myrtle. They also tried to mange play time and even said they would push us a hole if lagging. They took the fun out of golf. Maybe it’s better when Mother Nature is kinder to them. Was not impressed
Great track
Being from NJ, it seems to me that the entire Myrtle Beach golf industry has taken a huge hit in recent years as it is not one of the premier golf destinations in the country as it once was back 20+ years ago. Tiger’s Eye has a phenomenal layout. Tee boxes were OK but the fairways and greens were pretty good. It’s amazing as this course has been around for a long time and they are building these brand new 3-4K sq foot houses. I guess that is one way the golf course can improve their bottom line as we only saw one other group on the whole course when we were out yesterday afternoon. Nonetheless our $23 Hot Deal was well worth it.
Tiger's Eye was distracted.
A very nice layout under the influence of too much rain and wind from TS isaias and summer showers. The course conditions have not been attended to because of weather, but still in decent shape. The greens were a little slow, but manageable. The fairways were in need of blowing, and the tee boxes need a trim. I was playing well despite this, and enjoyed the course and the round. I'll be back when it dries out. Pro shop staff was huffy, and the starter short on personality. Thank you to the helpful snack bar lady, and very friendly and personable ranger!
Disappointing, needs maintenance
Has potential to be a really nice course but it currently needs help. Greens may not have been cut the day we played and were slow, but also needed rolling as they were bumpy. Fairways were good, but tees were bare in too many places and had not been cut day we played, there were a few traps in good condition but most were bad, washed out in places and in need of sand. Staff was friendly and helpful, and layout suggests this was and could be a very good track.
Back In The Rotation?
The "Big Cat" courses had been dropped from our annual trips, as the course conditions seemed to be falling behind others in the area. After this round, we are definitely putting it back on the list.
Everything was in great shape, and the holes were back to being picturesque and challenging. The starters and on-course staff were all pleasant and helpful. Great job overall.
One minor correction needed, though; while we all understand the need to wear masks in the pro shop, it was a bit of a downer to see the pro shop cashier's, which read "Trump 2020". None of us thought it was appropriate for a representative of the course to advertise a political position, regardless of whether it is one we agree with or not.
Thank you for the nice review. Work is continuing as we speak to continue to polish up any less than ideal spots around the course and we expect 2021 to be the best year Tiger's Eye has experienced in some time. We hope you will come see our continued progress for yourself again very soon!
Thanks again.
