About
Nestled in the heart of Virginia Beach, Honey Bee Golf Club is one of the area's most popular daily-fee golfing venues. Rees Jones designed the course, incorporating water on 10 holes as well as intricate bunkering throughout. The challenging layout has several tricky doglegs and some treacherous blind shots as well. It's a golf course that demands careful course management and some strategic thinking. Accurate shot placement is also key when maneuvering the rolling fairways and contoured greens. While it's by no means an easy golf course, it is an enjoyable round for players of all skill levels, making it a popular venue for tournaments and corporate outings. For golfers looking to get an entire day of golf in, Honey Bee's sister club, Stumpy Lake, is only about half a mile away.

After 2 inches of rain...
...the night before I was surprised that an 854 tee time would be 90 degree on carts. While the course was not bone dry as earlier in the summer, it was much better than I expected. Greens were receptive and fairways were in good shape. Even the normally grumpy starter was in a good mood.
Pace was a bit slower than usual and no marshal ever came out to get the group in front of us moving a bit. BUT it was a Sunday and we still finished in about 4.5 hours. Definitely NOT terrible, but a little prodding every now and then is not a bad thing.
Worth the money
Tee boxes were in great shape. Greens were okay. Challenging layout with some chances to score.
Great Shape
Course is in the best shape it has been in a while. Tee boxes and greens are terrific. The only gripe is the pro shop guy, very professional, but the starter/ cart assign guy has a bit of an attitude at times. But once you're out on the course, everything was fantastic.
Pro shop checkin guy was rude
I looked on golf now.com and saw the course was wide open so I just showed up. He was infuriated that I apparently was the 16th person that day that showed up without a tee time. Talk about a bad first impression he had a bad attitude and he should not be in the golf business. The owner of the golf course should fire this guy.
A Good Day at HoneyBee
Took my wife out to Honey Bee for her first round of golf. We had a great time.

The course was in really good shape. The only negatives were a few of the bunkers were rocky and the tee box on one where you have to hit across a power line.
Weather was perfect, the pace was fantastic (finished in just over 3 hours) and the greens were rolling beautifully.
I think it had a good mix of scoring holes and challenging holes where you had to evaluate your plan of attack from the tee box. A fun design that offers a great way to spend the day.
