Honey Bee Golf Club
About
Nestled in the heart of Virginia Beach, Honey Bee Golf Club is one of the area's most popular daily-fee golfing venues. Rees Jones designed the course, incorporating water on 10 holes as well as intricate bunkering throughout. The challenging layout has several tricky doglegs and some treacherous blind shots as well. It's a golf course that demands careful course management and some strategic thinking. Accurate shot placement is also key when maneuvering the rolling fairways and contoured greens. While it's by no means an easy golf course, it is an enjoyable round for players of all skill levels, making it a popular venue for tournaments and corporate outings. For golfers looking to get an entire day of golf in, Honey Bee's sister club, Stumpy Lake, is only about half a mile away.

Local gem.
Not my first time playing here, but the course is in outstanding condition. Greens are in outstanding condition. Austin, Jeff and their staff are friendly and welcoming. Great value and a ton of fun.
Great shape for heat of summer
Fairways and greens were in great shape given we played 7/12 after many hot dry days. Kudos to greenskeepers. Traps were thin with only about 1"- 1.5" of sand before hitting hardpan which required hitting ball with plucking swing rather than under and thru ball.
Nice course
Only played 9, but overall it was very nice
This course is in great shape.
I had a decent round at the B. Greens were in wonderful shape.
This course was challenging especially the 1st and 18th hole
Very good public course! the price was also very good.
Pleasant Surprise
This was last minute booking but the course layout, conditions & staff made for a great afternoon of golf.
It was a very pleasant surprise. I would highly recommend it.
Peak conditions
All the rain we have gotten and the past few weeks of warm weather have really brought this course in. A few of the bunkers need to be redone as its like hitting out of a parking lot it's so hard. The fairways were plush, tee boxes are just fine, the greens were a little grainy but held the line more times than not. DEFINITLY a must if you haven't golfed here before. It's a rather short course but its unique in the shot you are faced with. All in all, it's a pretty fun course to shoot every now and then.
enjoyable
fair ways in good condition and greens were faassst.
Best of the courses in the Hampton Roads Golf Clubs
My buddy and I tee'd off on April 11, 2016 right before a tournament went off. We had no trouble with the excess of golfers for the tourney because we got off earlier. Anyways, the course is in great shape! I don't know if they rolled the greens specifically for the tournament but they were fantastic! They were fast and true. The greens have a great deal of slope in them so it makes up for the short course even from the tips. The bunkers had some tight lies but its not quite golf season so give that a month or so for them to fix up. Overall, the course has 6 par 3's (so par 70), a lot of short par 4's (but also a big boy par 4 thrown in here and there), and the 4 par 5's where you had to be able to move your ball left or right to set up your next couple of shots. The course is only going to get in better shape as we near nicer weather and I highly recommend spending the money to play the course
Good value
Our foursome played in 37 degree weather with a bit of wind and even snow flurries. Needless to say, there was very little pressure on the course. (Only one other group of fools with us). Will gladly play Honey Bee again. One of our favorite courses.
Great Course
Challenging layout - good condition for the time of the year
Tee & Greens were in good condition
Course in better than average condition. Although there were a couple of sand traps with water in them.
No-Nonsense Nice Course
The golf course is not the longest or most difficult course I have played, but it is a fair test for the average golfer (15-20 hdcp). Played in November, leaves were blown well and course was well-kept. There were many unfixed ball marks on the greens and unfilled divots on the course, but that is the fault of the players, not the course. I will play it again when visiting the area.
Honeybee
Course was in good condition and plays very fair for all skill levels. We had a bit of a bottle neck at the first tee but once everyone got started and playing the pace worked itself out. For the price I would recommend this course for all.......
A nice course
This is a nice course in good shape. Greens were fast and rolled well. You could tell it wasn't played by regulars because nobody fixed their ball marks. I fixed 4 or 5 per hole. Do not walk it, there are some holes with a lot of distance between hole and next tee. Well worth the bargain price.
Need to replace the starter, cart helper and ambassador!
A disappointing round. We had a 9:56 tee time. Arrived well in advance.
The starter was gruff and lazy from the minute we walked up. “Who you with” he yelled loudly to my husband. What kind of greeting is that?
During the time we went in, paid, got drinks and came back out to hit some putts, he never moved, just ushered his helper around to give him cart numbers.
When we first arrived and I walked up to the stairs and then back after getting refreshments, I said hello to he and his helper each time. Each time neither replied. His helper was no better, he sat there in his cart talking with the starter and moaning and groaning about his family, no wonder he has an “ex”. Totally unprofessional of both of them. I wanted ear plugs.
Then the ambassador was horrible. He flat out lied about the slow play to my husband. It may have been busy but the slow play we were experiencing was due to one foursome. I can see why that group had an early tee time, they’d never finish before dark if they teed off after noon.
When our twosome got to #5, there were 3 groups on the hole, the slow group was maybe ½ way to the green, another foursome waiting to tee off and our twosome that just pulled up. We could clearly see no one was on #6 the entire time. When the slow group finally got to #6 green, the ambassador came around. What a disgrace he never spoke to them and he even parked by green 6 while they putted. When he came down to the #6 tee where we sat and waited, my husband asked about the slow foursome and he told us the whole course was backed up and there were no open holes even through we’d see it ourselves. My husband explained there was no one on the hole the entire time all 3 groups were on #5 but he said no, that every hole was full so what we’d seen with our own eyes wasn’t real? Your ambassador was just another lazy employee not doing his job but riding around instead of addressing a group that had clearly fallen behind.
By the time we got to #16, the foursome two ahead of us was just getting off the green. There were no groups on 17 or 18.
What a disappointing round. We actually expected a response back from Honey Bee after the feedback was given to them. Hopefully the regular staff was on vacation and they'll get rid of this crew.
solid course
This course is just a solid course in very good condition. The greens were consistent throughout the course. The fairways and roughs were properly maintained. Almost all bunkers that we experienced were soft sand rather than packed hard(one exception). The only negative thing I can say is that it has no real wow factor. You're not going to be telling your buddies about that beautiful hole number x. Its just solid all round. Very enjoyable.
Great conditions
Is a great course challenging and forgiving great for any level golfer
course in good condition
course in good cindition but wait on each hole. bunkers raked smooth, greens nice
No five somes please!
Pace of play was fine until we ran into a five some on the back nine. Before we could go around them it took forty minutes to play two holes. Not good. We had to go around them and come back to the hole we missed in order to complete the round. The overall condition of the course and the greens were excellent.
