About
Candler Hills Golf Club in Ocala was designed by Florida native Gordon G. Lewis. In a state that has no shortage of golf courses, Candler Hills manages to stand out. The layout offers plenty of length at 7,233 yards from the back tees. The 662-yard fourth hole is the longest par 5 in Florida. There are no water hazards on the golf course, but what it lacks in water it more than makes up for in sand. Strategically placed traps line the fairways and greens. The layout has some challenging holes but it's fair and playable for all skill levels. Candler Hills G.C. is also well known for its extensive practice facility, which has a range with target greens placed at different yardages and a short-game area with a practice bunker and undulating green.

Friendly course
Always in great shape and with multiple tee options allows for a fun round for players of all levels
Always a pleasure
Greens were punched but course was in great condition. 7:30 tee time finished in just under 4 hrs. I will definitely be coming back to play this course.
not to happy
The golf was great. The price was right. Everything was great until I tried to order some food after the round at the bar at 2pm on Sunday 6/17. After waiting what I thought was a long time I made the mistake of asking the girl behind the bar how much longer it would be for the food to come out. She proceeds to give me this response how it takes time to cook food etc. etc. I thought it was very rude and uncalled for. At that point we left. I had actually thought about looking at a house there but if this is the type of people that work there I don't think so.
4.5 Stars
Candler Hills is a fun design with lost of sand but no water in play. Fairways are wide, rough is barely taller than the fairway, though there are plenty of traps and native grass clumps waiting to grab errant shots. I'd say it's 4.5 stars if that were an option on here, just had a few greens that were sandy/patchy in spots on the back side. Otherwise it's pretty solid from tee to green. Staff was friendly, and it had a good practice area., Greens were a bit shaggy and slow in the afternoon. It's well worth a play if you find yourself in the area!
Always Great
I live next door to Candler, this course is always in great condition, the employees are great and the food is good, a real player designed course.
Great course
This course is always in great condition. The staff is super friendly. A fun course to play. Some of the regular members play way too slow and don't consider the players behind them.
This is an excellent course.The fairways and greens were in great condition.Pace of play was good, it took 3 and a half hours for our foursome to play.Alot of sand to make things challenging.Great deal for the money.

Candler Hills was in great shape...I call it the Augusta of Ocala because its usually in such good condition. Greens were moderately quick, fairways lush and full. Good place to play!

Course was in good shape had my best round ever 76
I still do not understand why the fairway grass needs to be mowed so short. It seems that with the heat & lack of rain it would be better to leave it a little longer.

staff very friendly and accommodating; well organized check in; worth a 50 minute drive; pace of play always good; fairways and greens very good
Couldn't be better
Got paired with real nice people, had a good round, and the weather was great. The staff is probably the best around central Florida. What else can you ask for?
