About
Candler Hills Golf Club in Ocala was designed by Florida native Gordon G. Lewis. In a state that has no shortage of golf courses, Candler Hills manages to stand out. The layout offers plenty of length at 7,233 yards from the back tees. The 662-yard fourth hole is the longest par 5 in Florida. There are no water hazards on the golf course, but what it lacks in water it more than makes up for in sand. Strategically placed traps line the fairways and greens. The layout has some challenging holes but it's fair and playable for all skill levels. Candler Hills G.C. is also well known for its extensive practice facility, which has a range with target greens placed at different yardages and a short-game area with a practice bunker and undulating green.

Rain check
My friend and I played Candler Thurs Aug 1st on a Hot Deal. After a few holes a huge lightning thunder storm came on so everyone had to return to the clubhouse.
I asked for a rain check but club said I had to contact golfnow.com since I booked it that way. It said on the site no refunds or rain checks given on HOT Deals...that was disappointing. However this course is gorgeous and I will definitely play it again.
Rained out
Everything as usual. Course was in pretty good condition. Some greens have some bald spots. But they were playable and fast. We got a heavy downpour of 🌧, and hadto stop after 5 holes. Candler properly & promptly closed the course. And Golfnow promptly gave a credit. That's how it's supposed to work. I'm 😊.
Still a little pricey
Great course conditions. Just not worthy of their current rates. Sorry 😞
Greens a little bumpy
Everything was in good shape. Seems like the greens were recently. Some had some bad spots. But they're very playable.
Nice Course
Great course in very good shape. Played Black tees in 3hr45min. Big greens well maintained! The pro shop lady and starter /ranger were not to friendly, but didn't do enough wrong to be told so. Probably the reason such a nice course was not full. . Good price, great course! Would of liked a tee box in the 6,900 range. Black tees 7,300 next tees up 6,600 . To big of gap, but just a opinion!
Simply one of the best
Candler Hills is simply one of the best courses not only in the Ocala area but in all of Florida. Have played in every corner of the state and Candler Hills ranks amongst the best. Staff is great and course conditions are spotless. If you’re in the area it is an absolute must play.
Nice course
Played it on a hot deal and was well worth the $40. But normal rates are $110 and that's just crazy for this level of a course. It's a $60-$75 course all day... 110 is just crazy. Additionally, still sand on greens and the greens being punched were visible. Ball didn't roll well. I know this is temporary but the rates should be adjust to match...

I haven't played this course since 2006 since I live in Missouri now. I grew up playing all the FL courses and this is one of my favorites in Ocala! The ONLY critic I have is the layout is kinda wonky. Green to tee is quit some distance but if that's my only issue then this should be 6 star course. NOW when it comes to GolfNow I'm not happy. I prepaid for my round on Saturday then I get paired up with a threesome all nice guys but I realized they paid HALF of what I did on a supposed "HOT DEAL".. I wasn't a happy camper, so buyer beway!! I confirmed with my playing partners that they had also purchased their round on Saturday.. Please explain how that works!!

Only reason there are four star ratings is due to the aerification.
Peaceful
First time playing this course. The fairways are very wide and in great condition, no water hazards and lots of bunkers. Tee times are spread out 10 min, so no one was coming up behind us or us catching up with the group in front of us. We enjoyed the entire round. Usually a 15+ handicap, but shot 10 over with such nice fairways.
Great shape
The entire course, from Tee to Greens were some of the best I have played in a long while. Fairways let you hit what ever club/shot you needed. Greens were in great shape.

No water but lots of sand traps. Fairways are wide open and in good condition.
